My experience here was pure negligence..
I came in with a very clear idea of what I wanted. I initially asked about blonde extensions to avoid dyeing my natural hair, but Brittney, their âextension specialist,â advised against it due to my hair length. She said a warm honey blonde would suit my skin tone best, showed me inspo photos and said it would complement my skin tone best. I made it clear that tone was everything, especially after emphasizing how cautious I was about going lighter due to a past bad experience. I even asked Karol, the stylist they booked me with, multiple times to save those exact photos. She said she would get them.
From there, this turned into a lengthy process. Karol used a totally different photo, didnât confirm anything with me, and gave me ashy-gray hair with a thick, low money piece. After 5 1/2 hours in the chair, I walked out with the complete opposite of what we discussed in the consultation. I called the next day and was sent to Jess who also couldnât correct my ash color and even thickened my money piece when I asked for it to be thinner.
After giving a second chance, I asked for a refund. The owner, Summer, said they donât offer full refunds but offered me $60. Instead, she advised to come back a third time with Brittney, who supposedly had 7 years of experience.
That third appointment I asked Brittney repeatedly if my hair would still be light, just less ashy. She reassured me every single time. She applied toner, told me it would process for about 20 minutes and left me sitting for nearly 40 while she blow-dried and curled another clientâs hair. When she came back to rinse it, I asked one last time if it would still be light, and she again said yes. Instead, my hair came out chestnut brown. Brittney said âItâll lighten after a few washes,â and âitâll look brighter once curled.â I told her not to bother curling anymore because I was pretty upset. Instead of apologizing, she said her manager would follow up. I left in tears. I was clear, patient, and gave them too many chances. I donât care how âsweetâ they seemed, they were incompetent and dismissive.
After 3 appointments, $456 and hours of my time, I walked out with the exact opposite of what I wanted. Itâs evident they bank on clients who wonât ask questions or push back, charging premium prices while putting in minimal effort/skill.
Update: the owner mentioned the refund was not stated in my review. To clarify, I informed her via text that I already shared my experience (which was this review) before requesting a full refund. Even though she did, which I do appreciate, it still does not take away from my experience and time spent here. I want to keep these posted to inform others don't accept vague responses to...
Read moreI came in for an all-over brown color to cover my previous bayalage. Unfortunately, the first appointment yielded uneven colors. The crown of my head was a light reddish color while the rest of my hair was a dark neutral brown. When I asked the stylist to fix the color at the crown, at the end of the service, she said sheâd put a glaze over it. This didnât fix it. It did nothing. She asked if I âcould live with it for a few days?â ⌠and if I couldnât, I could come back to have her fix it. I paid approximately $400.
I came into the salon the following day so a manager/supervisor could see the coloring mistakes. I asked them to fix the issue⌠so they booked me for a âcolor fixâ appt for the following evening. Great! The stylist added a dark brown permanent color to the crown, so it matched the rest of the hair.
However, at the end of this appointment, I was charged an additional $78 for them to fix the coloring mistake. I was surprised I was charged since every salon Iâve ever been to in my 46 yrs of life, has never charged me to fix their own mistake.
2 stars for the stylist!
I donât blame the stylist but I blame the salon for this policy. Northlake Color Lab needs to do better, and needs to update their policies to ensure that stylists are allowed to âfixâ any issue they caused, free of charge. If I had received a hair cut and it was uneven, I would be charged again to have them fix it. This...
Read moreI had high hopes for this salon because of how close it is to where I live. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I had an appointment with Nicole who is a level 4 stylist. That in itself, I had high expectations. She was doing three clients hair at the same time as me. I immediately could tell she felt rushed and overbooked herself. I thought it was very unprofessional. I had my roots colored, a glaze, and blow dry. My apt time was for 10:30 and I did not leave the salon until 2:20. During that entire time, Nicole might have had been doing my hair for maybe 30 minutes? Iâm not sure why her prices are so high if sheâs going to have associates doing her work, and very slowly at that matter. I donât believe this is a hair school and the slower service and having other people do your work is something I would expect from there but not at this salon. I do have thick hair but I have never had an experience like this ever. The longest it takes to get my hair done is 3 hours (at most) and thatâs with highlights and a cut. This experience is not something I would have expected from a...
