I started feeling sick on December 2nd while at work. Hoping it would pass, I went home to rest, but I felt worse the following day. Since I had previously visited Doctors Urgent Care for myself and my daughter and always had good experiences, I decided to go back. Initially, the visit seemed typical—staff took my vitals and ran tests. They diagnosed me with Flu A and prescribed antibiotics, which I took for five days.
However, by the following Saturday, I still felt terrible and had to return to work despite my symptoms. Throughout that week, I continued feeling unwell, and by the next Saturday, I was vomiting due to severe coughing. I attempted to return to this facility but couldn’t get an appointment because they were so busy, and I have limited access to transportation.
As a result, I went to another urgent care facility in Roanoke. Unfortunately, my experience there was worse—they didn’t conduct any tests or thorough evaluations. They simply told me I had a bacterial infection and prescribed more antibiotics, even though I was still coughing and feeling awful.
Frustrated, I contacted my primary care physician, made an appointment, and explained everything that had happened. During the appointment, she tested me, and the results came back negative for the flu. After reviewing my symptoms and the medications I had been prescribed, she explained that I should have been given Tamiflu during my initial visit to CareNow. The antibiotics prescribed were not effective for treating the flu, leaving my body to fight it off on its own. This explained why I continued to feel so unwell for so long. Normally, Tamiflu alleviates flu symptoms within a few days, but in my case, the incorrect treatment significantly delayed my recovery.
Now, two weeks later, I still feel terrible, and I am extremely dissatisfied with the care I received. The lack of proper testing and incorrect prescriptions at both CareNow and the other urgent care facility caused unnecessary suffering and delayed my ability to recover. I am writing this review in the hope that it encourages these facilities to provide more thorough and accurate care for their patients...
Read moreThis is my second time coming to Doctors Urgent Care of Northlake. The reason I returned is because I had excellent service back in June. The NP, Neda Joby, was top notch, showed empathy and properly diagnosed and treated me. In fact, I referred several people to Doctors Urgent Care just because of her and the staff at the clinic. All the staff, from reception to the assistant taking vitals and notes, were great.
Fast forward to August, and the visit was like night and day (not for the better). Reception was what I can best describe as uncaring, not just to me but to other patients that arrived as well. However, it was a Sunday and it was rather busy, and it was towards at the end of the day, so I'll sum it up to being ready to end the day. The assistant taking vitals and my reason for being there took down my information completely wrong, so much that when the practitioner showed up to the room, I had to re-explain everything (she was reading the notes as something completely different from what I was there for). Was she just going to treat me for something else that I didn't even have?? Then, the NP herself, Andrea Armstrong, was very rushed and seemed more focused on getting me out the door than anything else.
I gave the review 2 instead of 1 stars because I did have an excellent experience with Neda Joby back in June, and would highly recommend anyone under her care. However, the whole experience was just very poor the second...
Read moreThis was my 2nd visit within 2 weeks. The first visit, I made my appointment online and waited for about 10 minutes, not bad. Triage was basic, they took my vitals and reason why I was there. I noticed from my two visits that they typically diagnose based off of what is currently going around. I found this slightly annoying because not everyone has the same symptoms and signs of illness. They did offer to run RSV, Flu and Covid tests. Covid came back positive. I had my doubts right away. Nothing about what I was experiencing would indicate Covid, but that’s what the test read, she told me. I was told to treat with home remedies and she suggested that I not take the Covid viral medicine because of the side effects. I reluctantly agreed and left feeling unresolved and knowing that something else is going on. I believe I have some sort of sinus infection. The fact that she did not ask more probing questions is why my problem was not resolved. I have no lung issues, no cough which is indicative to Covid. I decided to take a Covid test myself to be certain and both tests came back NEGATIVE!! I puzzled and probably won’t be returning. I waisted gas and time and to top it off I’m...
