The Hungry Beard Review! !!Honest review for Kurogi Ramen & Sushi!! Conveniently located next to Harvest in Northlake.

Food: 3.8 Pros: Good selection on the menu. The Crab Rangoons were good. Thin and crispy could use a little more crab flavor. Not overpowering on cream cheese taste. The sauce compliments it well. The fish in the sushi/poke bowl was fresh. Pork was cooked well in the ramen and I like that it was seared. Noodles themselves were also delicious.

Cons: Rice was undercooked on our sushi & poke bowl (you can tell by the picture of the tuna roll.) Too much bite. This what killed the score for me. Rice is the most important factor! Broth in ramen didn’t hit. Had a pungent smell/after taste. Hard to eat. The egg in the ramen didn’t have a great flavor. I didn’t like how the scallions were cut in the ramen, thin & stringy made it difficult to chew. Visually the ramen bowl was mid. Wish they offered different types of noodles in their ramen dishes. Watch out for the wasabi in the poke bowl, occasional blast of heat in the bowl (inconsistent). No lunch specials which is typical for a place that shuts down between lunch and dinner.

Service: 5.0 Staff was friendly and prompt. We were in/out within 30 minutes of being seated. Everything we needed was already at the table. Granted we came at the end of the lunch hour.

Ambiance: 5.0 Clean & decorated well on the inside. It’s in Northlake to be expected. Nice bar area. There’s also a great outdoor seating...

I wouldn't feed my worst enemy in this wretched excuse for a restaurant! If you have any respect for your health or basic hygiene standards, steer clear of this cesspool of culinary catastrophe.

Let's start with the kitchen horror show: my friend, who works here witnessed a chef casually pick up a fillet of fish that had taken a detour to the floor and still had the gall to toss it onto the grill like it was no big deal. If that's not a glaring health violation, I don't know what is. And if you thought that was the extent of their culinary crimes, think again. Prepare to lose your appetite as you witness a chef shamelessly puffing away on their vape pen right over the exposed food, contaminating every morsel with their cloud of nicotine-laden air.

But wait, it gets even worse. The management here has clearly perfected the art of making their employees' lives miserable. I cringed as I heard about the manager who launched into a public tirade against a waitress for the unforgivable crime of speaking a foreign language. Not only was the poor woman humiliated in front of customers, but the manager's appalling behavior also reeked of discrimination and disrespect.

Save yourself the stomach-churning ordeal and avoid this establishment like the plague. Your taste buds will thank you, and so will...

I drove all the way from denton to try out their food, only to find that they're closed due to a break, but the website never stated their hours of a break. You lost a customer that was willing to try your food out. I'll stay with kurume ramen in denton. Thanks for wasting my time. If you want good ramen go to Kurume in denton. It was more than 1.5 hours. I got there at 230pm and it said close till 4pm. I checked your hours prior to coming. All I'm saying is there should've been a notice in the hours posted on google. I understand they deserve a break. The fact is post it on your schedule. I'm not heartless, just annoyed with the drive. Had I known that it was closed for break I would've come back at a later time. Don't reverse this on me. Again I respect breaks, but post it on your schedule. I checked the schedule prior to coming. Thanks, andDenton'll...

I stopped in for a Friday lunch and was seated at the sushi bar since I was by myself. I’m a huge fan of sushi and super excited to have a place close by here in Northlake Texas. I ordered two rolls and green tea. I loved that they had looseleaf brewed green tea, that’s my absolute favorite. I had the Northlake roll, which, I of course had to try. It was definitely spicier than I expected on the first bite, but grew on me quickly. I really enjoyed it and balanced out the other role that I ordered. I wanted to get something different, so I also ordered the hot mama roll. it had great flavor when I paired it with some wasabi soy sauce. I will say it did have a strong mayo flavor that I wasn’t super crazy about, but I was able to adjust it with the soy. The service was great and I will definitely be back to try more things!
