Cindy/Gorin’s Review
Prepare for TMI… My plan was to visit a number of stores JUST for ideas on a love seat and accent chairs for a special room addition I just finished. The items would need to accommodate some dimension and styling limitations… as well as be real comfy. I am very detailed oriented and typically don’t care to deal with sales people who lack the proper skills/knowledge and just provide sales pitch BS. The plan was to look around at several stores in a day to get ideas which may fit my desired seating and love seat needs w/o any follower. When we entered Gorins and Cindy approached to offer any help, I was ready to politely turn her away and just do my own thing. But something about her smile and attitude caused me to think … why not give her a chance? She was very professional & personable plus likable/bubbly w/o overdoing or faking it. I described some of my specific needs (style, dimension limits etc.) I showed pix of the room layout for chairs and love seat. She immediately understood and quickly narrowed things down to look at. As we walked around I joked with her and she went right along. She was quick on her feet to fire back. We had some friendly fun bantering back and forth as I felt like we had been long term friends. She showed me a few things I had not considered and really liked. And we discussed pluses and minus related to my specific goals. But I had to move on as I wanted to hit several other stores for more ideas to consider. As we parted, I had an appreciation for her and lingering thoughts of some pieces we looked at. While visiting several other stores, I did have some discussion with other sales people and saw some items of interest. Some reps were reasonably helpful while others just waisted my time. After much running around, I decided I wanted to go back and see Cindy again. We returned to Gorins just before closing to talk and re-look at 2 pieces. She went into more detail on the items of interest, especially the Flex Steel we flipped over and discussed the build. Being an overly analytical/anal engineer, that was appreciated. Before leaving we bought the 2 chairs and discussed the Love seat a bit more. I did not tell Cindy we had bought a love seat elsewhere just prior to our return. The next day, I was rethinking my non Gorins love seat purchase vs the Flex Steel we really dove into. I contacted Cindy -on her day off- and after a few texts we closed a deal on that Flex steel. I then canceled the other purchase. During our assorted store travels, we started thinking about replacing a lot more furniture in 2 other rooms. When we get into that, can you guess where we are going and who...
Read moreOur trip to Gorins went much better than expected since our original intention was to purchase a new bed and just price new bedroom furniture. The showroom had a large selection of furniture in addition to lots of mattresses and box springs to fit just about anyones preferences and budget. What made the experience easy was the assistance of a very sweet and knowledgeable sales representative named Ana Krysiak. She was able to show us a wide range of furniture and mattresses while being considerate of our time and privacy to discuss our likes, dislikes, and fianances. What I really liked was there was no awkwardness or sense of pressure to buy from her. When we did select the furniture pieces and mattress set we liked she was able to speak with Mr. Gorin the owner to get us a $1400.00 discount. He even took the time to come over and meet us, which given it was a Sunday on a holiday weekend, I'm sure he had better things he could be doing. He was a very nice personable man (and I would say that even if he didn't cut me a great deal). The staff not assisting other customers busied themselves with going behind people to sanitize things. They were discreet about it, but I did appreciate the steps they are taking to maximize safety in order to address the governor's requirements.
Bottom line, this is my second time shopping at this furniture store. They listen and sell you what you want without upselling more expensive lines. I know we went for a bed and came out with a bedroom full of beautiful furniture. Trust me when I say that for the price, I don't think I could have gotten anywhere near the quality anywhere else. We did shop around, so if this review says anything that helps, hopefully it says "Go to Gorins, ask for Ana, and have yourselves a happy and safe shopping experience." I know a lot of folks are worried about opening things up to soon with Covid-19 still lingering around. The responsible method this store used served as a good benchmark for other...
Read moreWe have always bought our furniture from Gorins. Even when I was a kid. But the last few times we have been in there, the whole atmosphere is different. The greeting was nice, then when we said we're just looking for now, the look we got was a crossed between umm ok, and irritated. The woman said well how are you just looking, don't you know what you need? Again, I said we're just looking for now. She said ok, and literally followed us everywhere we went. We went downstairs, and it was like this woman was a ghost, because by the time we got down there, she was already sitting in a chair and was saying if we see something, let her know and she will give is the sale price. We said ok. Then we were looking at something, and she proceeded to talk us from across the room. And again she said I can give you the sale price if you want that item. I remember when the sale prices used to be written in the tags. (Yes, I know times change) We were done looking and proceeded to leave and the woman asked "so you didn't find anything?" We said no, not today. She said what do you mean? I said we didn't see anything we wanted, thank you. I was out the door, and she was trying to convince my husband to look more and we must have seen something. I was aggravated and I finally said, we like to look without being followed, and without being interrupted when we are having a personal conversation about an item. Every time we made a comment about an item, there was always a comment back. I don't like that. We try to support small business, and again, we used to love this place, but the last few visits has changed my mind. So sad when you're a long time customer and feel it's more about the money than trying to earn a customers trust and get them to keep...
