I was in the Sports Basement Novato store early the evening of November 4, 2021, trying on some hiking pants. While in the dressing room, I hung my prescription sunglasses up on a hook, and placed some other personal items on a chair. The following morning, when I went to leave my residence, I discovered that my prescription sunglasses were missing, not in their usual location. The panic of a $400 replacement cost immediately drove into my head. I calmed a second, and thought, maybe I left them in the Sport Basement dressing room. I immediately called the store, spoke with Conner, described the sunglasses, he went and checked lost & found, came back on the phone, and said "We have them!"

Living just a short trip to the store, I promptly drove over, hooked up with Conner at the front desk, and he retrieved my prescription sunglasses for me. When I asked who found them, the young woman associate Morgan was standing nearby at checkout desk, and indicated she had. The prior evening, she had gone through all the dressing rooms as due diligence, found my prescription sunglasses, and dutifully gotten them immediately into the store's lost & found.

I was so freaking happy I almost screamed Thank You So Much to both Conner and Morgan as we all smiled and laughed at the happy ending. I told them, "You just saved me about $400 and a lot of hassle to replace my prescription sunglasses!!!"

Great kudos to Conner and Morgan for being real and considerate and thorough pros!

And frankly, this is not unexpected, as the service generally at Sports Basement Novato store has always been cordial and professional.

So, I’m finally writing a review for this place as it’s new and I have been waiting for them to get their snowboard gear together. I’ve been here 4x now since it has opened. I am an avid snowboarder (100 days a season consecutive seasons running).

The staff here are rude and pushy. A middle aged older white man ( employee) in the snowboard section asked me and my friends to move out of the way. And that we couldn’t look at the rental boots. We also saw a younger girl with her family, we over heard she was 11 and a half. The snowboard tech helping her with boot sizing and board had no idea what he was talking about at all. I literally wanted to step in and say something. This guy obviously doesn’t ski or snowboard..

My friend also had to tell a bike technician at the same store how to set up brakes properly.

Totally un-educated un-experienced staff. They have just hired Novato local kids that don’t get outside much. And definitely do not ski or snowboard!

I recommend old town sports on grant ave over this place any day if you want someone that actually knows what they are talking about.

I will not be supporting your business at all and will not recommend anyone to you also. Train your staff or at least interview them before hiring them as bike and ski/ snowboard...

I come there spent thousand at your store look me up I’m a registered member and though doing that would give me a piece of mind in your store. NOPE You guys continuously every single time I walk in look at me like he’s a thief because I have tattoos dude I spent more money on my tattoos than you make a year. No reason to judge me just cause your parents told you that guys like me or thieves, you guys should be more humble and more kind to people when Only because we are the ones that pay your check I am the one that gives your company money for clothing and such and get looked at like I’m some trash from my walk in your store. Every single time followed around by multiple employees. They have nothing else better to do and talk about me as they follow around like I’m something of a joke smirking at me when I catch watching and following me. Basically people I try to spend only about five minutes at your store yeah that big location. I started to spend five minutes shopping there because I want to know what I need so I get it and get out and not get harassed with with your employees…I put a pic up next time I come in I better not get harassed or I will never comeback. A couple thousand year or don’t follow me like a lost puppy who can’t find its own tail and thank you...
