Deep Sea Sportfishing Hawaii — Local services in Oʻahu

Hands down, the best fishing experience EVER! Fishing is always hit or miss. After calling many charters in this area and talking to some "cocky or salty" captains, I found captain Matt and I could tell he loved the sport and was going to try to do what he could to get you on the fish. It just happened that the day before he had just went out for fun to go fishing without a charter with his first mate Neil to have fun. He worked all of north shore that day and found that the fish moved in closer to the shore and not where the rest of the fleet was fishing on the fishing grounds. That day, we got a triple hook-up of skip jack tuna, then another double hook-up of skip jacks. An hour later, we landed a 240lb, 99" Blue Marlin. But that was not enough, and working the area again, we landed a 140lb Yellowfin Tuna. We were done! The final count was, we hooked 7, and landed 5. We did not make it the full time and ran to shore to unload the catch. Still Captain Matt, being the diehard, trolled on our way back and part of us was praying not to hook another fish after the previous workout! No doubt the best trip of a lifetime -- it will never be topped -- thanks to Captain Matt and Neil. Don't look anywhere else, and book your next charter with Deep Sea Fishing. You probably won't have the same outcome but they will put in the effort....

First he gave us a safety briefing to explain where the life preservers and fire extinguishers are located. He also explained the radio and how to use it if we should need to call the coast guard.

Next it was time to catch live bait. Once we had live bait, it was time to catch some Mahi Mahi. Then we trolled for some fish while dodging storms. While we were never in any danger, it’s not much fun fishing in the rain.

We tried using lures but didn’t have much luck. After using dead bait and some other small bait fish we landed a grey snapper. Everyone in the harbor was so jealous of its size!

We had a blast and if we ever get back to Hawaii, I’m calling Deep Sea Fishing to set up another charter!!

We went deep-sea fishing for the first time last Tuesday with this company for my sons 18th birthday. We were out for 8 hours and first of all we didn’t catch anything. The only thing we saw all day was school of dolphins. But that wasn’t the worst part of it, the worst part is the minimal interaction between the crew and us. We felt like we were just stuck at the bottom of the boat and nobody interacted with us. It was our first time deep-sea fishing so we knew nothing. it would’ve been amazing to have somebody explaining about deep sea fishing, about the lures, really anything would have been appreciated especially since I paid over $1000. Nobody even wished my son a happy birthday, nothing!!! I can’t even express how disappointed we were!!...
