My wife ordered food for takeout and was told it would take 25 minutes for it to be ready. I went to pick up the food 30 minutes later. The woman at the takeout window said it would take 5 more minutes and asked me to sign the receipt (my wife paid through the phone). I signed and waited.
I stood outside for 25 minutes until the woman finally came back. When I told her I’ve been waiting for really long she went crazy on me - said curse words, complained that no one wanted to work on the North Shore, said they were short on staff. She claimed she was the manager and I asked to get a refund so I could go home and stop waiting for the food. She said she would do it but then told me to wait and left. A couple of minutes later another girl comes with my order. Since the food was there I just gave up, picked the order and drove home.
Once I got home and was ready to eat, the order was messed up - it was something I didn’t order. I checked the receipt and it was my order, they just put the wrong thing in the bag. The whole experience was extremely frustrating. My wife called the restaurant and said the order came wrong and asked for a refund. She was told they could not get us a refund but we could drive back there and they would remake the order. As if I’d ever subject myself to waiting outside that place ever again. I just ate whatever it was that they gave me. It was really good (only reason I gave 2 stars), which is sad because the service was so terrible.
The woman who I talked to looked to be high on something. Also, there was a group of girls behind me on the line who had the exact same complaints - waited for really long, horrible customer service, etc. they all thought the woman was high or drunk too. It could be that she was just overwhelmed and really tired but it seemed like something else.
I understand the restaurant was understaffed and I understand it’s an stressful situation for everyone involved. However, she lied about the waiting time. She lied to my wife on the phone, and then to me at the window. And then when I pointed out the wait was much longer than what I expected, she was extremely...
Read more3.5 stars. Service is good, but the food isn't consist.
I ordered the Bangkok night noodles, which is essentially garlic noodles according to the description. But I didn't taste any garlic. Instead, it was just a whole lot of salt.. I even asked for limes, but it didn't help. The only thing that was tasty was the fried shrimp.
My sister's pad Thai, on the other hand, was pretty good. She asked for mild, but the spice kept building with each bite, so it was a little harder to eat near the end. I did try it, and it had all the flavors a pad Thai should have. Her girlfriend got the pad kee mao and finished it, so I assume she liked it.
But we were also hungry. My mom overheard one of the chefs leaving, and it took almost an hour to get our food. I usually don't mind a wait, but my dish wasn't worth it.
I've read other reviews that also stated the food was too salty, and that the wait was long..
I will say that the wait staff are very friendly and attentive. And because of the wait, they comped our drinks, which were non-alcoholic (though I can't remember if they do serve alcohol).
Because that part of Haleiwa was redone, the restaurant's current modern decor is an upgrade from it was before. But unfortunately, the food wasn't up to par as I remembered it long ago.
And don't get a table on the upper right hand corner of the restaurant (which is small). That table is right in front of the bathroom. And when I mean up front, I mean you're literally less than a foot away.
Another alternative is to use the to-go window and eat outside. But if the wait time is long, then it may...
Read moreSome of the best Thai food that we have had. We went here multiple times while staying on the North Shore for a few weeks. We tried a food truck that had higher ratings and it was not even close to the food here. The restaurant is clean, the staff was great, and the food was excellent. The only thing I would mention is what has been mentioned before on the gratuity. We saw the signs that gratuity would be added but when looking at our bill we did not see a line item for it. It wasn't until we went with friends the 3rd time that they noticed as we were walking out that the gratuity is added to each individual item perhaps? But it was in even numbers and not an exact $18. For example, something that was $14 on the menu was actually $17 or something like that. I am not sure if the pricing was off or if that was the gratuity but I would check your bill. Given that we loved the food we had tipped over 25% so it was a little lame to discover we had been over billed. If it is the gratuity it should be a line item clearly showing it. Or if it is a pricing error the menu needs to be updated. I would go again without question but would check my bill. I would recommend the owners change this as that is your main complaint on here otherwise your reviews would be closer to a 5 is my guess and you wouldn't be losing business to other places whose food does not come close to yours. We went to two other Thai places prior to this due to reviews being lower and your food...
