Pearl Nails & Salon — Local services in Oʻahu

First time going here and I absolutely loved it. I have tried many, MANY nail salons on Oahu and nothing comes close to the experience I’ve had here. They are so sweet and lovely— from the minute you call them to ask if they can accommodate you, they’re immediately so kind. They have a really good amount of staff which is amazing to see as some other salons do not have enough technicians to accommodate you. They were beyond busy today, all pedicure chairs filled, but they did not make us wait and sat us down immediately. They also spoke incredibly good English, which is a plus as sometimes things can inevitably get lost in translation, at no fault of theirs. Just an added pro of going here :) Salon itself is kept very clean, with them changing pedicure bags after every customer and wiping everything down immediately.

Candy, the lady who did my pedicure was not only sweet, but she was so thorough with my pedicure and meticulous with everything she did. She took her time on each step of the pedicure and really made sure to pay close attention to my cuticle area and nipped all dead skin which is something I really enjoy and look for when getting pedicures. We had such a great conversation, laughs, such a good experience. I also really liked that she wasn’t pushy about getting other services whereas some other salons can really push you to do other things like waxing, acrylics, gel, etc. there was none of that here which made me really appreciate them. I said regular polish and that was that! No push or debate about trying to get me to do gel, or trying to sell me on a more expensive pedicure package. I also really appreciated that she told my friend that it would be a better deal to do the Sugar pedi instead of the basic, ONLY because my friend had opted for a normal basic pedi and added on $5 callus removal when the Sugar pedi already comes with it, plus a sugar scrub and mint mask/hot towel for the same price. They have tons of colors to choose from— available in Gel or Regular, something for everyone.

I really enjoyed coming here today and I will definitely be back next month to redo my toes! Also, do yourself the biggest favor and ask for Candy if she’s available, she’s sweet, thorough, talkative but professional, and SOOO good...

7/29/2021 Yay! Today was a gel mani. Linh used DND DC Duo Gel 057 in White Bunny, which is the color that I used last time on my toes (on my toes was regular polish though, not gel). She added silver glitter polish and to that she hand placed Unicorn glitter with a tiny brush. Her co-workers gave her compliments on her work. Fabulous and I love it!

7/12/2021 The last review I wrote for Pearl Nails was over 3 years ago! I called yesterday and made an appointment for today with Linh for a pedicure and gel mani. This was my first nail appointment since the pandemic started in March 2020. I arrived around 10 min. before my appointment so that I could see if they had any procedures that I needed to follow and to ease into the experience. They have their procedures posted in the window so after I read, I signed in and waited outside for Linh. When she was ready for me, I walked in, washed my hands, picked my pedi color, and sat in the massaging pedicure chair. Even though I hadn't been to Linh for over a year, she was as friendly and professional as ever! I had picked an off white color for my toes and showed Linh. She told me that she had a favorite white. When she showed it to me, I immediately changed my color to the one she suggested. I think it was called Snow Bunny. I'm so pleased with my pedi! The pedicure was just as fabulous as I remembered. After a year without a pedicure, my feet were rough and now they're smooth again. Linh was meticulous about clipping dry cuticles and skin around my nails before she did my gel mani. I did gel in Bubble Bath and Put It In Neutral for a natural nude look. Love it! When I went to pay, I mentioned that I had old gift certificates from 2019. Nikki overheard me and remarked that she always honors gift certificates, no matter how old they are. She and Linh are the reasons that I'll keep coming to Pearl Nails. It's always a pleasant and professional experience here!

I had high hopes for this salon, after such high a pedicure and the young lady doing the service was unpleasant, if not rude. I can get beyond that, as everyone has a bad day now and then. But her actual service was terrible, she rushed and actually gave me an ingrown that I had to have removed afterwards. Her "massaging scrub" was light rubbing at best. I also paid extra for callus removal (pointing my two trouble spots), and she barely touched them...like not even touched. When it came to the lotion, she literally plopped it onto my legs and left it there...never rubbing it in, and then wiped it off when she was finished. PS: she applied the wrong color, and I was so ticked off at that point I did not say anything because I did not want to be in the chair a moment longer than needed.

I also have SERIOUS concerns about the sanitary practices as I only saw 1 tool be opened from a sterile pack. They use giant spoons for the lotion and scrub, that they dip into large glass containers of product and then use their hands to wipe off the product onto the client. They then use the same spoon again on the next client, so whatever was on one client is now getting introduced into the giant containers of product and spread to...
