I have went back-and-forth as to whether it is worth it to even write a review. But I have been sitting with this uncomfortable knot in my stomach since my interaction this weekend and Walmart’s response; I hope that by sharing it, I can stop running this scenario through my head:
My 11yr old and I walked to Walmart together on Saturday evening. After checking out, we put our stuff in the bags that we brought with us and showed our receipt to the employee at the door. The employee told my daughter that she had to show him what's in her bag along with her receipt, which is against store policy (more about this later).
I told the employee such, he continued to escalate the situation - AND THE EMPLOYEE TOLD MY 11 YR OLD CHILD – WHO DID NOTHING WRONG - THAT SHE COULD EITHER SHOW THE RECEIPT TO HIM OR TO THE POLICE. She got so terrified that she immediately burst into tears, opened her backpack to show him what was inside and proceeded to run all the way home in the dark, screaming, crying, and terrified. The employees' response: SEE YOU SHOULDVE JUST DONE THAT FROM THE BEGINNING. Why? Why was this necessary, and demanded of us, but not other customers?
I wanted to find out, and returned to Walmart the same night to speak to customer service, who brushed me off and told me that they would follow-up. I received an email from the manager apologizing for her employee’s inappropriate treatment, and asking for me to give her teammates another chance. And if this were the first time, I MIGHT consider it. But quite unfortunately, it was not.
The FIRST time I was treated inappropriately and when I FIRST learned from a manager that it is against store policy for them to check my bags, was after an employee CALLED ME BACK INTO THE STORE AFTER I PAID, AND ILLEGALLY SEARCHED MY BAG AFTER ACCUSING ME OF CHANGING PRICES ON ITEMS AT SELF CHECKOUT. Which is actually not even possible, and fortunately, easily disproved. Same brush off, same canned email response. So, NO! Walmart: I will NOT give you or your teammates one more chance to accuse, harass, racially profile, or violate me or my family.
This morning I closed my Walmart + account and also paid off and closed my Walmart Capital One credit card.
I live less than a block away from Walmart -it is the closest store to my house, I am a single mom on a budget, and it is also one of the cheapest places on the island to shop.
This will definitely be more of an inconvenience to me than them, and based on their responses to both complaints of harassment, I’m sure it will not even matter to them. BUT MAYBE IT WILL TO YOU??? As I told my 11-yr old, there is no cost or convenience that makes having your civil rights violated worth it, and Walmart’s treatment of us...
Read moreFirst off I don’t usually do reviews! But, this experience was a little irritating. We went to Walmart to buy a booster seat. Everything was fine we found a booster for a good price $59. We get to the register and it’s $114. So we are like why let’s get this fixed that’s almost double the price we anticipated. We get to customer service… The guy calls for a someone to help she takes her sweet time cause after 5 minutes of no response I offered to walk back there and take a picture. Which I did. (The missing space is of the seat we grabbed) the lady decided to come and argue with my husband about the sign not saying that’s Graco and the serial numbers aren’t the same as if we are trained to read serial numbers. At this point I’m pissed because instead of just helping grab the right one and get us refunded they want to argue. So we ask for the manager! She was also no damn help because it’s been like almost 20 minutes.. she comes to meet us in the front again I show her the picture and instead of taking responsibility of their wrong doing of stocking things that don’t belong there and honoring their mistake. She decides to walk back there fox their mistake and bring us the correct one. No apology. She did not take any responsibly. In fact her attitude was stink from the moment she came to even try and assist us. Almost like she doesn’t want to be there. I’m sorry Walmart but I’m not a trained associate. I will grab the product that is marked and signed by your trained associates you all should honor these mistakes and fix it. I mean it’s the least you could do for us having to wait while 3 different people investigate your mistake. But, then again this is why we...
Read moreI love Walmart! I only problem I have with the them is that their scooters that they have for handicap people to use is not monitored because people who are not handicap uses it. I see teenagers riding it and people that is capable of walking uses it... just lazy to walk. I'm a handicap person and I use a quad cane cause I had a severe stroke which I also broke my right arm. Several times went to Walmart and no scooter was available so I sit and wait sometimes and observe the people that uses the scooter and I see people who are really handicap with a brace on their leg and theirs no scooter for them to use. I feel for them cause there's some fat person who is capable of walking is using the scooter. Sorry for making my comment so long but I think the scooters should be monitored maybe by the greeter. I know where I used to work we had wheelchairs for handicap people that we would rent out but we would ask for their I.D. have them fill out a short form and held on to their ID it until they returned the wheelchair. Some places lock it up and they would ask an associate to use it. That's just some suggestion. I hope Walmart can come out...
