My fiancee and I walked in to Gerald's Jewelry to purchase her engagement ring not knowing what to expect. Gerald's has a fine reputation here in Oak Harbor, but it was our first experience with them and I must say, what a great experience it was! The staff was so wonderfully friendly and appreciative that we were there. We explained what we were looking for and what our budget was. I thought that maybe since our budget was a modest one, there wouldn't be a huge selection, but I was wrong. The nice lady behind the counter asked my fiancee about her preferred ring styles and then began showing her those styles...and there were lots of them. Every ring that was presented to my fiancee for consideration was within the budget previously discussed and not necessarily at the top of that budget . It was clear that Gerald's wasn't trying to up sell there products, they were showing us beautiful jewelry within the price range we had indicated. My fiancee selected her ring, but it needed to be sized for her delicately small finger. There was a brief moment of worry when we asked how long it would take to size it , thinking it would be days before she could actually wear it. To our surprise, the jeweler looked at it and said, "I can have this for you before 4:00, I'll text you when its done." True to his word, he texted us at 3:30 to say it was done. When we arrived back at the store, the staff presented us with her ring, a congratulatory bottle of wine and a ring cleaner. This was the most wonderful experience, buying my fiancee her engagement ring was of course the highlight, but buying it from the thoughtful staff at Gerald's added so much!

Not happy at all! My fiancé and I took in my engagement ring to have it cleaned, and resized, and all of the diamonds double checked to make sure they were tight. They gave us a date in which we could pick it up so we planned our engagement photos for after said date. Went in for that date and was told it was not done that they were not doing it in-house like they told us they sent it to a different jeweler without my permission. A week later after having to reschedule my engagement photos it finally came back and two days later one of the diamonds that they made sure was tight had fallen out. It only looked nice and clean For about a full day and then it look like it wasn’t cleaned at all. Now mind you I take my ring off when doing dishes showering or working in the yard. I take very good care of my jewelry. Come to find out when I take it to another jeweler The Centerstone is so loose it could’ve fallen out at any point. I’m not happy that not only did it take longer by a week then what they told us they sent it away without my permission and it was not the quality that they had charged us for. They also charged hidden fees such as sending it to another jeweler to get it done so we ended up having to pay almost 3 times as much as the price that they had told us when we had taken it in. After shopping around for a ring resize quote, Gerald's offered the best deal - which was great! But the good experiences ended there. I asked if I could keep the piece they cut out when sizing down, and got attitude from the woman helping me. They finished resizing a day earlier than they had quoted me, which was nice. When I came to pick it up, I noticed that part of the band had separated from the diamond setting. I brought it back in immediately and explained the error to the same woman. She insisted that it wasn't their fault and that it had been like that since we bought it. I had before and after pictures of the ring where it was perfect before the resize, and separated afterward, so it was obvious that the only time this separation could have happened was in their store. I brought my fiance back with me later that day and spoke to a new woman, who again insisted they did not mess it up, but did immediately take it back to their goldsmith to fix. Once it was fixed, we noticed that the goldsmith's tools had left imprints on the band, so we made them fix that too. Overall a very poor experience. Bad customer service. And a professional jeweler shouldn't do the bare minimum and leave such obvious flaws in a ring. Yes it was cheap, but you get what you pay for. I will definitely never...
