Art Studio 928 and its owner, Cheryl Vargas, are truly outstanding. Cheryl is a joy to work with. She is responsible, collaborative, and fully engaged in both the planning and hosting of events. Her thoughtful and hands-on approach makes every gathering more organized and enjoyable.

I’ve attended two events at Art Studio 928 and recently hosted one of my own. Each time, I’ve been struck by the studio’s inviting, creative energy. The space is beautifully designed, filled with natural light, colorful artwork, and a sense of warmth that immediately puts guests at ease. It’s both spacious and flexible, easily accommodating larger groups while still offering an intimate and interactive setting for smaller gatherings.

For my recent teen workshop on professional skills (covering introductions, handshakes, small talk, and elevator speeches) the studio provided the perfect setting. Cheryl’s support and insight were invaluable. Thanks in large part to her, the event was a great success. Teens and their parents gave enthusiastic feedback not just about the workshop itself, but also about how comfortable and inspired they felt in the space. I contacted Cheryl to inquire about a virtual painting event for my job as a Student Activities and Program Coordinator for Hamilton College. I was intrigued by her Mimic the Masters series and asked if she was able to mimic a painting by Jacob Lawrence – as Hamilton's Wellin Museum of Art recently acquired a piece by Lawrence and I thought it would be an interesting connection. Cheryl accommodated this request and worked diligently to make the event happen in two weeks ! Her booking procedure was straightforward and simple and Cheryl was always available by phone and email. Participants really enjoyed the event and Cheryl's incredible energy. She explained different brush techniques, took us through the motions of mixing paints, and guided our application of pigment – all while elucidating Lawrences personal history and his contribution to the Harlem Renaissance. If you are looking for a fun, cozy, yet roomy feel for your event, then this is the place to be! Cheryl has created a space that is warm and welcoming and is so easy to work with. She works hard to make sure that your event is the best one she has ever had in her space. I held my husband's 60th birthday party there, with 50 expected guests, on one of the hottest and most humid days ever! The tables she had set up worked perfectly and the placement of them as well as the bar and food areas made the flow of the room work seamlessly. I created a slideshow that was displayed on the giant tv that is on the wall, and I had access to her boombox (which I connected to my phone) on which I played a playlist I created for my husband.
