Discover the alternative, independent and experimental world of artist-run initiatives at Compound Yellow - a contemporary art gallery located in the center of historic Oak Park.
The gallery offers the work of a diverse group of talented 2D and 3D Chicago area artists working in a variety of mediums such as acrylic, oil, photography, mixed media, wood, ceramics, and performing arts: poetry, jazz, folk, acoustic, EDM and more. The bright and inviting yellow gallery is a combined commercial and residential space with an art gallery and intimate event space featuring high ceiling and operates over two levels.
What is an enormous asset for the community is the outdoor stage, complete with comfortable vintage and stadium seating (a collection of cool cushions being acquired overtime), friendly chicken coops, and breezy trees to sit underneath and contemplate creativity. It's very engaging and entertaining.
You never know what will transpire, yet the owner Laura has a keen eye for the Arts community. Compound Yellow's crew has their finger on the pulse. Laura knows and we...
