Usually I never write reviews especially bad ones but this is ridiculous, My gf called in and spoke to one of the staffs, She said there may be an ETB in stock but it's on hold for a customer, She will call the customer and see if they still want it and that she'll call me back, which she never did. I wasn't hopeful because I know these products go fast. They had Destined Rivals packs in stock though and said limit 5, so I figured well if I cant get any ETBs, 5 packs isn't so bad and decided to take the 45 minute trip over there. When I got to the store Graham asks if he can assist me with anything, so I told him we called in earlier about an ETB, he checks and says there's nothing in the back and ETBs were all gone yesterday. which im okay, so I proceed to buy the boosters, and he said there is a limit, and I said yeah 5 right? He says it's a limit of 3 now.. On the phone you guys said limit 5. He says it changes.. It changes depending on what? Thats very shady.. So if you guys knew you already sold out of ETBs yesterday and the limit for packs is 3 and not 5, why lie to a customer to get them to come out to your store. This experience makes me never want to come back even if you get product in.. my girl calls the store back and owner picks up, she tries to explain what happened and he goes well he would of came out anyways for 3 packs no? Which proves he's aware of this..! Thats super shady business practice, I'd never support a business like this.. They know Pokémon is the hyped right now and will say or do anything to get customers into their door, yeah no thanks to your overpriced...
Read moreWell this is my 2nd time coming to this independent toy store in Oak Park. I was going to go to another one in Elmhurst but I decided to come here since I was much more familiar with this store in my 1st experience back in 2016. That is because I did a Toys for tots motorcycle drive and had to purchase a toy. Despite the demise of Toys R Us this was the next quality toy store in which I would give a poor or disadvantage child a toy that is not made in China. There are a few made in China products here as well but at least you'll be able to find made in Germany and made in USA. It's been since after covid and now 5 years and my company who I'm working with now does the Toys for tots but I don't have to drive a motorcycle across the city LOL. This time I just have to drop a favorable good toy and it was a tough choice but they had 2 brands that I wanted to buy and I can only buy one. Green toys made in USA and Bruder brand which is made in Germany. The Bruder brand is really detailed vs green toys dump truck I picked made in USA. Yes they are expensive but I have a conscientious heart or generosity to give something better made and not toxic for a poor child to play with from my contribution. $30 vs going to dollar store or even Walmart or Target. Anyways I do recommend going here for those one-of-a-kind quality better play toys which I'm surprised nowadays how people would rather play video games than actually physically play with toy trucks or dolls made in Spain. 4 out of 5 stars because of parking in Oak Park not...
Read moreI am an Oak Park Resident and have shopped in the store numerous time. Really great shop. I purchased a Ravensburger puzzle for my granddaughter for Christmas. It was a three part puzzle, and as we were trying to assemble it, two of the puzzles were missing one piece each. I attempted to exchange the puzzle on 01.05.25. I had the original wrapping which included the store pricing and bar code. I did not have the original receipt, but I was able to call up my charge transaction. I was told that without my original receipt, there was nothing that could be done. There were two young ladies working behind the counter. I said that was poor customer service. I did not want my money back, I just wanted a complete puzzle. The store must have a relationship with the vendor, who should honor their products. I asked for the managers name, and they said they were the managers. There would be no customer service without a store receipt, regardless of the packaging. I still think that that is poor policy, with the store not standing behind its' inventory. I said okay, I am not shooting the messenger, and I get you don't dictate store policy, but to the other gal I said "your attitude and how you speak to customers is quite snotty". Her response was "Thank you very much". That is your manager and the representative...
