We came in, and it was about half full, which is a good sign. We got seated fairly quickly. The host was extremely nice. We took some time looking over the menu, and the host was kind enough to let us take our time choosing. The mango lemonade was very refreshing and had what tasted like fresh mango in it, which was a pleasant surprise as many use syrups instead. We ordered takoyaki to start and it was a strongly impressing starter item. Cooked perfectly, my only complaint is much too little octopus in it, which is the main star ingredient of takoyaki. Then came the spicy tonkatsu, very oily, noodles were definitely not house made. Very meh. Then the rolls and nigiri. The rolls and Nigeria are beautifully put together and the sauce art is definitely a plus. However we noticed the blue sauce stains the board and could see the stains from the previous use. And we also felt the sushi itself was quite bland. Fish when fresh has a wonderful unique flavor. These lacked it. However I was pleasantly surprised by the Wasabi under the fish on the Nigiri, which is a sign of a well taught sushi chef. Overall beautiful presentation, great service. A bit of a empty atmosphere with odd choiced pop music but my only qualm is with the quality of the ingredients. I don't think I'd pay $100 for this level of quality again when I could go somewhere I know is better. However, this spot is new and I think with time they can improve, and I will probably visit again in a year when they've hopefully improved. At that time I will update my review.

I recently dined at Yama Sushi Bar, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience! The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome, and the service throughout the night was outstanding. Our waitress was truly the best in Oak Park—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made great recommendations and ensured that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. But the star of the show was undoubtedly the sushi. I’ve tried many sushi spots, but Yama Sushi Bar offers the freshest and most delicious sushi in Oak Park. Each roll was meticulously prepared and beautifully presented, bursting with flavor and artistry. The quality of the fish and the creativity in the presentation were top-notch, making this a standout sushi experience. Overall, Yama Sushi Bar provides a perfect blend of exceptional service and outstanding food. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or just looking for a great place to dine, this is the spot to be. Highly recommend!

Yama Sushi in Oak Park is an absolute gem that serves up the most incredible sushi in the entire Chicagoland area! The atmosphere is spotless and inviting, and the server went above and beyond to provide fantastic recommendations. Each dish not only tastes amazing but is also a feast for the eyes with beautiful presentation. The dragon rolls are a true work of art, with each one more unique and delicious than the last. The hell fire roll and dragon roll were absolutely mouth-watering. We also indulged in some classic maki rolls and sashimi, though we wished the sashimi cuts were a bit thicker. Despite that, the prices were more than fair for the outstanding quality of food and service. Yama Sushi is a must-visit for any sushi enthusiast - you won't be disappointed!
