East Lake Barber Shop — Local services in Oakland

Worse place to go to. Smells like wet dog and old building. Booked an appointment 3 weeks in advance- I showed up and they said they couldn’t find my name and the owner said “sorry we can’t help you” and walked away.

These guys think they’re the best thing since slice bread but they have no customer service or know how to treat people- wanna be treat like a smelly wet dog then go here - zero star

In response to your comment - you weren’t with a customer and you were sitting on the bench by the entrance playing with a dog. And you clearly said I’m not on the schedule and you can’t help me, sorry and walked away to go help a customer that walked in with his son.

And I told you I called on Wednesday to confirm my appointment but voice mail says you don’t call people back or check your voice mails. And I came by on Friday to see if I can get a hair cut on Friday instead and your colleague said to come back tomorrow at 10 am when my appointment was, Disorganized.

Either way I’m sharing my experience at your shop. Like it or not it’s my experience and I would never recommend this shop or schedule appointment there.

And it should be you that’s friendly and not your dog since I don’t think your dog is going to cut my hair.

I have been getting my hair cut with Joe for about 8 years. I started with him over at Al's in Alameda and had no problem following him to his new shop in Oakland, which worked out now that I live close by. Joe built a beautiful space in East Lake. A modern space with old-school touches. While Joe is my main barber I have also had cuts from Sean and Dickie when I've had to shuffle appointments around and I trust them all equally with my temperamental curls. The barbers here all great. Joe is obviously the go to guy, but just take a look at everybody else leaving the shop and it's clear all the barbers are mad good. I've tried at least 10+ barbers in bay area and this is the only place that can nail it every time.

Also, prices are incredibly reasonable. Just beware that reasonable prices means having to book ASAP or everything...
