Vegan Donut Gelato — Restaurant in Oakland

Great option for vegan goodies. I went by around 10 and the donut selection was a bit slim. Looks like there's a lot of demand for their stuff. They have Thai tea too.

One star taken off for the following reasons: Limited offerings. While things getting sold out are a good sign for an establishment, it's reasonable to expect some level of demand forecasting so that enough quantities are made available. Especially when the order is being placed well within opening hours. This would be annoying for someone who is making the trip all the way to the establishment only to find the things they intended on buying are not available. The beverage in question - Thai tea - was delicious, however, the cup was mostly ice with very little Thai tea. Feels a bit deceptive. More tea, less ice please.

Vegan Donut Gelato replaces a vacant space that used to be Fairway Park Donuts & Ice Cream with a similar shop only everything here is vegan. It's a father/son duo business with special emphasis on vegan donuts. For now donut is the only thing available, but by early to mid October they'll have gelato made with almond milk. With fourteen flavors available on any given day and its most popular cheesecake flavor, it'll have lactose intolerances folks coming in droves. My husband and I are from Louisiana and are not vegans, but we heard about this shop on a previous visit to Oakland and made it a point to go on our most recent visit. I am not a doughnut fan, but I absolutely loved these vegan doughnuts, which were much better than any other doughnuts I have had. We ate the apple fritter in the store and left with some of the chocolate & peanut ones, along with matcha and mango. We also bought one with sprinkles for our grandchild. Everyone loved them.
