All my life I’ve heard negative things said by people about Kaiser Permanente. I would ask them why they made such remarks and the majority would reply “well I’ve never had Kaiser but…” I have had Kaiser for over 25 years and for a time in the 1980’s using the Bellflower, CA facility. Now I’m in San Diego County and there is no other more affordable insurance alternative available to the general public. I have been my own advocate to ensure that I get the best care possible. They are eager to work with me to manage my health and wellness, they listen to my concerns and promote preventative medicine. They offer online resources for everything I have needed and more that I haven’t yet. Within hours after lab testing you can see your results in your email. Also you can email your Dr at anytime. They call you promptly if there is new medication for you to take. They treat me with kindness and respect. COVID posed a few problems with appointment availability, but COVID has changed the dynamics of every aspect of living. There are a variety of locations if you can’t get in with your regular Physician. If you are patient and kind yourself, it’s been my experience that you are treated the same way. Last year, on a Sunday afternoon I received a phone call from a Dr on his cell phone who spent almost 90 minutes explaining the severity of my illness to me. There is a humanness and compassion that is rare in our culture which deeply impacted me. So, I love Kaiser, I’m a proactive senior who works with Kaiser to keep well and alive. Like others who share my thoughts, I’m happy with the opening of the new Kaiser Hospital in San Marcos. Kaiser has made great strides in progress since the 1980’s, and I will continue being a satisfied...

Went to the pharmacy and they told me it would be a few minutes. I went up after 15 minutes. "We're almost done." 15 minutes later, "I have to leave. Is it ready?" "It's almost done." Don't tell me it's a few minutes when it's 35 minutes?! Then when I went to get my prescription, they told me it was only partially filled and I could drive 25 minutes over 4 days later to pick it up. Never ended up picking it up.
Also - made an appt for today and was told it would be at this facility. When I went to check in, there was a San Diego address. Called and was told yes, it wasn't at Oceanside. No, "I'm so sorry the nurse messed up and scheduled it at the wrong location, we'll do our best to fit you in, let's see where we can squeeze you in." I was in pain for several days and not getting care bc I thought I had an appt...now, not sure what I'll end up doing. I guess try their urgent care in San Marcos, which I've heard has terrible waits. :(
If you're thinking of switching to Kaiser, DO NOT. Worst decision my husband and I made. I wish I could just call my doctor's office but instead, every time I have a question or need support, it's a giant bureaucracy. Some people might like it, but I hope I never get sick until we switch our insurance bc the process is such...
Read moreSince my wonderful primary left, Dr. Esquenazi, Kaiser has been nothing but a nightmare.. New Dr. Don't listen at all to us patients. Rush us out of the exam room with in 10 minutes. Perform expensive diagnostic test that to this day I haven't recieved the results by any Dr. I had to view it my self & had a vascular tec ( friend) review the results with me. All their Pharmacies have been storing my 1 medication wrong that I made the pharmacist call Abbie labs. Who verified the medication was being stored improperly. This drug has been out since 2012 & it's been stored & dispensed wrong all that time getting us patients sick. If your primary can't see you your told to go to ED but they also never do anything but refer you back to your primary. So you end up bounce back & forth from ED to your primary. Kaiser claims to be full staffed but have several sections of there ED unused do to lack of staffing & their Dermatology dept. Only has 4 doctors. Their full staff alright do to they only allow limited positions. And we have to wait 6 weeks or more just to get an appointment let alone a answer for a email response from your Dr. Terrible service & I work in healthcare. If you file a complaint with membership forget it. They cover for all their doctors & always messup your complaint & turn it into something...
