My partner and I were going to go to LA over the long weekend but decided to explore Oceanside instead. I had been wanting to visit Ransack for a while; the last time I came was when they were in their old spot. Let me tell you, I’m so glad we decided to drive up here. We had a great time exploring some Oceanside shops and restaurants, but Ransack was a highlight. The ladies at the shop were really sweet and welcoming. The selection of vintage is absolutely amazing and even my uber picky partner (he’s not even a vintage fan actually) was SUPER impressed. Yes, some pieces might be slightly on the pricey side (note, slightly) but totally fair in my opinion. With vintage you’re buying something completely unique and old, that somebody took time to source from somewhere. This ain’t goodwill - this is a shop with curated, quality vintage, run by people who know their stuff. I’m so happy I found my dream Levi’s denim jacket here, and I almost took home a pair of carpenter pants too but they were too tight - darn! What impressed me the most was the selection of old, dreamy dresses - next time I need a dress for a wedding I will for sure come back. Anyway, we had a great time in O Side and will for sure...
Read moreThis is a very lovingly and thoughtfully curated vintage store. Prices are on par with what this type of store usually presents, with the tees seeming very reasonable and some of the sundry items seeming a touch expensive. The 2 star rating is for the shop person - no greeting, on their phone the whole time, unapproachable demeanor when I walked up to the front to ask a question, completely and utterly checked out. I get it's boring, but this is a standard brick and mortar shop - there is no other approach or face of the shop than the sales person. It could be that in my casual running errands outfit I wasn't cool enough to be bothered with, or maybe it's the fact that I am a size 16 and this being a pretty standard curated vintage shop they don't bother with the complex sourcing of vintage items above a size 8. Being someone who hits these stores across the country I am used to this type of shop being a wonderful place to meet people who are as enthusiastic as I am about vintage gear and I guess expected more of an "experience". Overall, left a sour taste in my mouth and a desire...
Read moreBy far the best Vintage store in San Diego. Beautifully curated, they carry everything from new old stock, to the most thrashed barn finds you’ve ever seen. And while there prices are seemingly high, within the vintage world, they price many items accessibly and offer a wide variety of price points. The staff are all warm, super down to earth and never pushy at all. Each employee has a unique and rad style and different areas of expertise they can lend their knowledge to. I’ve been buying and selling to this store for over a year and love going in every time. They also pay the best of any vintage store with a buy counter in San Diego and will buy many old things that no other store recognizes the value of. Locally owned and operated by a small team of truly cool and kind people. 10/10 recommend to every vintage head that comes to town and even jus someone lookin for inspiration or something cool for...
