Primo Market is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great BBQ, fresh ceviche, and a friendly atmosphere. If you’re planning on drive here, they have a small parking lot right alongside their building, along with street parking in and around the neighborhood they’re nestled in. I would say that this place has 3 core areas: the market, the BBQ, and the taco stand. Walking into the market, you may be greeted right away by a sweet lady who offers free samples of their ceviches and explains the flavor profiles of all of them. Right outside the market entrance, Primo’s has offerings of BBQ meats, and the workers hand out generous samples of their brisket and tri-tip. Around the other side of their building, they have a bench area that leads to a window in the wall with a menu of tacos, burritos, burgers and plates. I overheard a lady that was picking up over 200 tacos, so I guess they provide catering-sized orders. The next time I do come down to Oceanside, I hope to pass by Primo’s and have a taste of their lunch options. I was very much satisfied with the tri-tip with their BBQ sauce, along with the aguachiles and chips.

What happened to Primo?! The only food worth buying is the special on wings and tacos on select days, otherwise you will be paying gentrified hip Oside prices. This side of fries was $10. These drinks are a medium and a small. Notice the size difference? Barely. If you buy the 4 tacos alone they are less than $8 with tax included. Buy the combo it’s $16 plus tax, that’s $8 plus tax for the side of rice and beans. This taco plate, fries and drink were $38. It’s about the principle not the money, as we threw away most of the fries because they are the battered greasy typical from frozen, versus the fresh cut looking fries in their menu photos. Enjoy and tip in their jar.

Got here for 69 cent taco Tuesday just after 6:00 PM. There was already a decent line and lots of people waiting for their orders. While in line to order they were calling out numbers in the low to mid 50s for the ready orders. I ordered and was number 7. It took just over one hour from the time I got in line till I got my tacos. The flavor of the carne asada tacos were delicious. While they are the smaller street taco size, they do pack a lot of meat into each taco. I would definitely go there again, but not on their taco Tuesday/Friday. Considering my husband and I got a total of 8 tacos I don’t think waiting an hour for them was worth the $6.40 that was saved.

Have been here 2 times before their food isn't that great but the primos in vista is a lot farther from my house. I decided to go and get some tacos from here today while I was cruisin around by the beach. I walk up to the window with my girlfriend and the lady behind the counter didn't even acknowledge that we were there. She continued to count out her tip that she had just received(miraculously) and "try" and stuff it in her front pocket which she could barely do. She then proceeded to take a couple minutes putting someone's burrito in a paper bag and then calling out their order. Eagerly awaiting for this person to take my order she again doesn't acknowledge that we are even there standing 2 feet from her. She again goes ahead and takes 5 minutes bagging someone else's order and calling out their number. Finally I thought we were going to be able to order but I was sadly mistaken she looks at us with a snarl and goes to bag another order. At this point both my girlfriend and I looked at each other and decided their food was definitely not going to be worth the wait and the rudeness that would have probably be inflicted upon us based on her attitude the entire time we were patiently waiting to have our order taken. I have no idea how anyone would want to actually go here unless it was the last Mexican food...

This establishment offers a nice local market feel with a grocery store, a food truck/produce area out front, and a restaurant on the side. The reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because overall, I feel Primo Market is a shadow of its former self from just a couple of years back: prices have gone up disproportionately and the restaurant has deteriorated, both in the quality of the food and most notably the service. The restaurant is a walk-up style short order Mexican restaurant, where you place your order through the window, pay, get a number, and then they call your number and give you your food in take-out containers. There is a seating area where you can sit and eat if you want. The last two times I’ve been here, I have waited 35 and 40 minutes for an overpriced $15 burrito, which was in fact a pretty small burrito compared to other similar places in the area. 35-40 minutes is completely unacceptable for this type of place. You can get the exact same food at Diego’s or Alberto’s up the street in 5 minutes or less and the prices are better. I won’t be coming back and if I had any advice for the management who hopefully reads this, you need to revamp your restaurant and probably hire more (and better) cooks. I’m not expecting a Michelin restaurant experience, but a quick burrito in 10 minutes or less should...
