Went to see Avengers: Endgame. The good... AWESOME movie, the reclining seats they added were a definite plus to kick back and get fully immersed in a 3 hour long 3D movie.
Now the downside. We are a family of 5, with 2 teenagers and a 6 year old. About 10 minutes after we sat in our seats we had an employee come up to us, wanting to "check our tickets" and had my wife scan the tickets from her phone. (We are both AMC App for Android users, so we always buy our tickets through there, and are AMC Stubs members, with the 5.00 ticket Tuesdays). While he was scanning the app, I looked down to the entrance and noticed there were 2 to 3 more employees, including what appeared to be a manager standing there looking at this guy scanning our tickets for a second time. (Having been scanned at the front desk) He sees all is good, walks down to the other employees, and they leave. Now, my issue isn't with the guy scanning g the tickets, more the fact that they singled us out, and decided to show up in force, coming 3 to 4 deep to scan our tickets. Nobody else got checked, but did they need to show up 4 deep, like they were Orange County Sheriff's Officers getting ready to do a drug bust? They didn't explain why they scanned our tickets, but having legitimately purchased all 5 seats, I wasn't too concerned at that. The theater wasnt too terribly crowded, but there were a few people in there...
Before the movie started, we also were interested in upgrading our Stubs free membership to the 15 bucks a year, premium membership. After standing that the "Guest Services" counter for all of approximately 15 minutes, with nobody there to assist us (We were told they couldn't do it at the concessions counter, although it had been an option previously, after having scanned our AMC Card with our info in the register (should have been a push of an extra button and ring out) we were told we had to go to the Guest Services counter to upgrade).
The theater was also a little on the dirty side with popcorn from previous showings of Avengers being a bit on the busy side (This was the Tuesday after opening weekend, so still quite a few movie goers) scattering the aisles and stairs.
All in all, we have never had a bad experience, and this one wasn't "bad" per say, but a few things made this trip to this particular AMC a little disconcerting. We still haven't gotten an explanation as to the showing of 3 to 4 employees showing up so that 1 employee could run our tickets again to see if they...
Read moreI was truly quite impressed with this movie theater, and I must say, although it isnât close to home, I definitely see myself coming here to watch my movies in the future. From the outside, and even on their app/website, this AMC doesnât scream out the âbest movie going experienceâ, but I guarantee you that once you go inside you will be quite impressed with it as well. The AMC we usually always go to is the one in Disney Springs. That one has 24 screens with some of them being the Dine-in experience, which is quite appealing in fact. Nonetheless, this AMC (West Oaks 14) does not have this, but their actual theater screens are quite impressive. Absolute All of their screen rooms are big and spacious, but best of all, they all have Power Recliners! These seats are big, comfortable, and spacious, and can lay quite all the way back. Their arm rests can be lifted too, so if youâre there with your loved one, you can pretty much make a bed out of the two recliners and get quite comfortable. Iâve only seen this kind of seating at Dolby experience AMC theaters, so I was very impressed they had this on All of their screens. In addition, given the not so busy location it sits in, this AMC isnât too busy as others Iâve been to. All of their facilities are all very clean and updated, including their restrooms. Their staff are all very nice and friendly too, so thatâs a big plus. Yes, they donât have the Dine-in experience Disney Springs has, or an IMAX screen, but it has everything else and more. I actually spoke to one of their staff and they told me how they recently renovated it all, hence the reason why all their screens have power recliners, and trust me, you can really tell they did a great job all around. Another very convenient thing I noticed is that they donât really require actual physical tickets. I usually always buy my tickets on the AMC app, but when I get to Disney Springs I always have to go to a kiosk to retrieve the tickets, here at West Oaks, when I got there, all I had to do is show them the barcode on my app and in we went. Simple and Convenient! I really recommend you to come visit this theater if itâs close to you, or youâre in the area, or even if youâre willing to make the drive, I really believe you will enjoy the experience as much as I did. Donât forget too that on Tuesdays, AMC stub members get $5 movie tickets all day. You canât beat that price for a great movie...

Okay AMC, I hope you're reading this. For us movie goers, let this be a warning not to go to West Oaks.
Went to the movie theatre today like a good A-Lister and had the worst experience. For those unfamiliar with Florida, days like today have a high temp of 92. Yet inside most theaters, it's down right frigid. Wearing pants, bringing a jacket or blanket, all quite normal behavior here.
However, West Oaks 14 was operating some of their theaters without AC. Staff said the whole building lacked AC. We decided to brave the heat, and watch the movie. We were there after all and the staff offered no compensation. AMC, it would have been wonderful if you had preemptively messaged ticket holders about the maintenance issues or just canceled the showing ahead of time. But onward with the story.
We sat chatting with a blank movie screen, sipping our cold drinks like our life depended on it. After a bit, realized the movie/previews hadn't started and it was 15 minutes after the start time. So packed up our things and went to the help desk to find out what's wrong now. The help desk attendant looked utterly annoyed in having to deal with us. Frankly, all the staff looked bored. We shared the movie hadn't started, and the attendant oh so helpfully told us to just come back another day. That she'd refund our tickets. To which I said we were already here, we already paid for concession items, and as A-Listers there was nothing to comp. She grumbled and called the tech folks to start the movie.
We slowly walked back to the theater with a stop to refresh drinks and use the restroom. Walked in, and still nothing on the screen. Took another few min to start it up, and get the screen running. They skipped all the previews, and we got to watching the movie.
Can I just say an already warm theater and movie equipment running really make that room into a sweatbox. Both our shirts were drenched by the time the movie was done. We decided to see if the attendant had told the truth that all the theaters lacked AC.... she lied. Walked into one and felt considerably cooler. Not ice cold, but significantly more comfortable.
As clearly some theaters had AC and only 2 others had movies playing, could you not have moved our showing to another theater?
I really wanted to give West Oaks a shot since I live so close, but here on out I'll spend my time and money going to...
