I would leave a zero star if they would let me. While going to this store on Saturday around 1 or 2 o'clock as i was about to enter the store the man in front of me was about to walk in with his beautiful white boxer i of course being the dog lover i am stopped to pet the boxer. She was sweet as could be and very well behaved as i could plainly see. As the man with the boxer entered the store just in front of me i hear hey Mr. you better get that pit-bull on a short leash and keep him on a short leash. As i turned to see who loudly spoke out i realized it was the associate greeter at the front counter who sternly spoke out to the man with the white boxer. I have decided after thinking about this that i think the proper thing to have said would have been good after noon or something similar and then approached the man and talked to him about his dog in a respectful manner . Not yell out what he did. Quite a few people do bring their dogs to Academy Sports with them as they shop. I turned to leave as i was quite peeved about what i had witnessed. I also noticed the man with the Boxer also left immediately. I will now look for other stores to purchase my sporting goods for my family as i am sure the man with the Boxer will...

Good variety and decent prices. We were able to get some sporting gear at a good sale price. The staff were friendly and helpful. Edit: Came in last night in a hurry because I forgot my kid needed a swim cap for school. I searched around and didn't find any. I went to the front desk to ask the older gentleman if they carried swim caps this time of year. He told me, "No I don't think so, we did have some in clearance but I think we are sold out". As I walked to the door a little panicked about what I was going to do, I decided to search online before leaving. A cap on sale pulled up that was available for pick up at this location within the hour. I was overjoyed! As I stood there a nice associate lady walked up and asked if I needed help (should have got her name). I told her that I was looking for a cap but that I found one online. She said that she knew exactly where some were and offered to assist me with the location. She took me right to them, showed me my options and even grabbed my online order and processed it. I was able to get home quickly and get what I needed at a great price!! That is top notch customer service!!! I would recommend training all staff members to know what...

If you have time to waste, go here. In a hurry, I walked inside directly to customer service, stated that I was in a hurry and knew exactly what I wanted, just needed to know where to find it. I was pointed in the general direction and told that someone was being sent to help me. Nobody showed up. I found one of my two items on my own, then had to go fetch my own help. The second item I need was out of stock in the size I needed. No big deal. I head to the registers passing 4 employees, none of whom follow me, and EVERY REGISTER is empty. Not a single cashier in sight. The person who finally helped me (none too enthusiastically), had watched me walk past but didn't help until I stated, "Hi, I just need to check out." Having worked in retail for several years myself, let me say this: the customer should not have to explain that they are trying to make a purchase!! This was my first, and likely last visit to Academy. Very disappointed, and can't get back the unnecessary time I lost due to poor customer service.
