Thief! I left a ring with a small but perfect diamond at his shop because he told me I needed one new prong. He knew I bought used items as I had paid him to test silver for me all the time, so he assumed it was a used ring I had just bought. When I picked it up there was a very large black carbon spot in the diamond and it was not the old cut diamond it was a new brilliant cut with FOUR new prongs! I did not have an appraisal for it because I had bought it many years before at a pawn shop. I told the lady who handed it to me "this is not my diamond it has been replaced and I only asked for 1 prong to be replaced and there are 4". He heard & as he was coming to me he said "you can see from the photos yours had a dark spot". Before he even looked! I don't care what the photos showed, and they did not show a dark spot but it was so small you couldn't see anything, he handled diamonds all day and I had been out of the country for a month, so you tell me he remembered 1 carbon spot in one ring before he even looked at the ring or the photo! Of course, he will take care of those he can't get away with stealing from honestly, but do not take any diamond there without an appraisal or he will switch...
Read moreI went in to inquiry about getting a ring resized. The woman took a look at it and explained to me that based on the design it would be around $200-300 to resize it because of the shape/jewels. I said "oh ok I'll just have my husband go back to where he bought it."( because they will resize it at no cost like most places) i just went to niche because I work close by and figured if it didnt cost too much it would be way easier to just get it resized there. This ring was an anniversary gift btw. My problem isnt the price. The conversation was fine until this woman said to me "Yeah you should just take it back to where he bought it...the price for us to resize it IS PROBABLY MORE THAN HE PAID FOR IT." First off lady he did pay more than $300. Secondly you are so extremely rude to have said that. It was completely unnecessary. So thank you for ruining my husbands anniversary gift to me. Nice work Niche. When my clients ask me about your business I always let them know how you looked down on my gift and myself as if I couldnt afford your store.
Update: I read your reply and I appreciate your...
Read moreSpent hundreds of dollars getting a lot of jewelry worked on. I needed a magnet on a necklace. They said they did not like doing that but would only do it with one particular magnet. As a jeweler, they should have said they would do it but would also ad a clip as extra protection. They didn’t! I wore it the first time and lost it. $5k necklace that has my original diamond in the middle. Very sad! Should be more insistent with expensive jewelry!
IN RESPONSE…you told me there were two magnets but you would only allow the one on a heavy necklace which is the one I purchased. You NEVER offered one with a clasp that goes with the magnet. I would NEVER have put the cheapest thing on an expensive necklace that had my original diamond in the middle!!!! I have waited to say something because I have been heart sick over all of this and no, insurance only covered it being stolen! As another jeweler said, I should have been offered something more secure or nothing at all. Lost it the first night I wore it! You should have know better...
