KC Donut Co. — Restaurant in Olathe

The last time I had come to this location it was a father and son working. They were awesome! Made me want to come back because customer service makes all the difference to me. I came back today and there was an older lady working behind the counter. I could tell immediately from just how she looked at me when I walked in that she was annoyed. I walk up and she said how can I help you. I said I would like a dozen donuts. She said "You want to tell me which ones? No glazed. We're out." Rude way of asking but ok. So I picked 2 pink ones. Then I said I will need 4 with sprinkles and before I could look at the sprinkle options she says, "Well you're going to have to tell me which ones." So I picked the 4 I wanted and told her just an assortment of the rest. She just seemed like she was in such a hurry and that I was an inconvenience. The donuts were good. I love KC Donut but I will go to a different location now. I'm between 2 locations and this one is on my way home from work. I'll go the extra few miles from my house for better customer service. I hope she was just having an off morning. It's a good place, but regardless of what you have going on, when you work around customers for a living, being kind and patient makes a difference to me. Have enjoyed these donuts for years & was surprised they were open during this Covid 19 pandemic. I walked in with my mask on to see people with their kids & no one wearing masks. The lady behind the counter didn’t wear a mask either. She bagged up my donuts with her gloved hands & took my money. I asked her to keep the change. She waited on the next customer with the same gloves & handled their credit card. This went on with her touching donuts, money & credit cards from every customer. This was Saturday, May 2, at 9:00 am. With no contact tracing we may never know how many were exposed to this virus. But it’s time to wake up & take this...

My first experience and it's not a good one. Sunday morning and my boys bring home a cake donut for me. It was crusted hard on the bottom and dry on top. I went to exchange it within 15 minutes and they had closed up shop at 10am instead of noon. Clearly they gave out the last bad donut to them rather than toss it for quality control.

I won't be back.

UPDATE:

I went in the next day and talked with the guy working. He took the donut, agreeing with the quality issue and actually replaced it with two before I even asked for one. That's good customer service right there. The new donuts were really good and I will try them again...
