I gave 2 stars because I don't use the word hate otherwise would of given one after the way I was treated. I joined the garden club and was issued a $5 off $25 coupon. When I was checking out the cashier took my phone scanned the coupon I thought and when the transaction was at the end asked her did she get the coupon she assured me she did and total was given and I paid. When I went to my car I took a minute to look at the receipt because the account in my head wasn't even near what I paid. I noticed she didn't actually take the coupon off so I went back in had to wait in line again and once I got back to cashier explained to her that she hadn't taken coupon off. She took my receipt told me she did when she in fact had not. Then she all of a sudden decided my coupon had been used the total coupon was taken off each item and so I explained to her it had not been taken off each item because I paid what the items cost on the shelf. She began to get hateful rude and quite disrespectful. Rolling her eyes she picks up the phone by her register and calls someone going on about how I was wrong and my coupon all of a sudden didn't qualify for my purchase because A plant I got for $2.49 was actually on sale regularly $2.99. I mean really if that's the case why didn't she tell me this from the very beginning the first time I was in the store in line paying and her taking my phone and the coupon. So I left without my coupon being valid anymore because she made it that way and DIDN'T even get to use it! Came home and then I realized she over charged me for 3 more plants then I actually had. I MEAN REALLY!! They weren't terribly expensive plants but it's the point I guess and the way she treated me was honestly appalling then not honoring my coupon and then making it so I never could use the coupon was just an insult and then over charging me on top of it! I believe my time at Sutherland's has come to a CLOSE at this point. I guess when they moved from Santa fe to 151st street they left their kindness behind!! The gal in the gardner center was very kind and helpful it's ashame they have someone so rude at the end of the experience because it honestly has left me disappointed and extremely annoyed at the way I was treated after spending my hard earned money here. So much I'll most likely avoid Sutherland's at all cost. There is nothing worth being treated like I was!! Overcharged and a coupon that's no good anymore because the cashier made it like I used it which I didn't because she didn't take it off and then over charging me for 3 plants! Then treating me like I'm the problem if she would of done her job correctly in the first place we wouldn't even be here in this position at all! Nothing worth this kind of treatment EVER!!! Honestly I'd think twice before overspending here because that's actually the second time since they've reopened I've had an issue this one was just too much to not say something! New review from today 5/4/21 The gal outside in thre garden center was very helpful and kind! That all changed inside at the register when I questioned a transaction!! Went to sutherlands today because they have a garden club and had some good prices on plants. They gave me a $5 off $25 coupon for being a member. When I checked out the gal took my phone and scanned coupon I asked at end of transaction if she got the $5 off she said yes. I got to my car and looked at receipt and didn't get $5 off so went back in store and the only thing I was given was a hard time and a coupon I didn't get to use but shows it's been used that's such a scam! Why would you scan it and tell me you took it off in the first place if it didn't apply to my transaction! Then treats me like I'm the problem and is irritated because I asked what your store promised me and you accepted during the traction! I don't know what happened to customer service but I guess they lost it here when they moved from Sante fe to 151st!! So irritated and just like my time and money doesn't matter! Read moreSutherlands Olathe location is close to my home. I have always gone there for my gardening needs and have spent hundreds of dollars at this location. I purchased several items last week, including a bag of gardening soil. I realized a few days later that I had forgotten to pick up the bag of soil. I went to sutherlands and began loading the $6 bag of soil into my trunk that I had already paid for. A store employee came running out demanding to see my receipt. She said “you can’t just pull up annd start loading things into your car”. I explained that my receipt was back at home but that I would be happy to go retrieve it. The employee said “you’re still going to have to pay for this.” I explained that it was already paid for and that I would return with the receipt. I put the bag back, returned to the store with the receipt. The same employee said “you’re gonna have to talk to the manager. You’re going to have to pay for this again.” I said, I’m sure people forget all the time to grab their bags. She responded ,”no they don’t”. The manager came and escorted me to my car and helped me load the bag in. I won’t be returning to this store.
