My wife and I prefer supporting local businesses, so when Yellow Brick Bakery popped up as a suggestion, we had to check them out; and we were happy we did.
We spoke with Skyler, who described everything in their case and their aim to use locally sourced ingredients.
We left with a couple of bags full of goodies, including a couple of cheese and ham crouques, a breakfast hand pie, a brat in a blanket, a small chocolate bourbon pecan pie, a chicken pot pie, and a couple of sweets to try. We sampled most of them when we got home and they are all tasty!
Having grown up in the South, I'm a big fan of pecan pies, so I was excited to see that they had some. They didn't have any of the small sizes of the regular in stock, but they had the chocolate bourbon pecan pie, so I decided to try it. I'll say that it's a toss-up which I like better! It's a very good combination and well-balanced flavors.
We'll definitely be back, and highly recommend stopping by to support a locally owned business and to grab...
Read moreVery nice staff, clean space, and tasty food. The person at the counter was able to answer any questions I had about the food. They have an interesting selection of savory bakery times that I hadn't heard of, but looked amazing. There is a small sitting area and they can heat up some things to eat there which I thought was nice.
The only thing I could think of that I didn't like was that the writing on the display case was a little hard to read, I would probably go with cards with the name of the food and a short description and price in front of the food so that the information is clear and the person at the counter doesn't have to explain every item.
It was a very nice visit and I'm interested to see how this...

When traveling through cities I always like to try some of the local bakeries. I really wanted to like yellow brick but every pastry I had was way too thick and underbaked. The hand pie was almost 90% dough, 10% filling, and very under baked. The lemon bar also had an extremely thick base, a little undercooked and no bite to it, just sweet. The cronut was possibly the sweetest / sugared thing I've ever had at a bakery. Maybe it's for some people, but not for me. Overall a really nice place, I just hope they revise some of their recipes and baking by time I stop there next! Looking...
