Golden Palace Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Olathe

Extremely disappointed and will never eat or order from here again and we've been ordering from them 20 plus years. Ordered about 100 dollars of food tonight which is Christmas. Told a bit busy about an hr. Show up food not ready,waited in restaurant almost an additional 2 hrs and still not ready so I stated I'd waited almost 2 hrs and ordered almost 3 hrs ago if my food ain't out in 10 I'm leaving. Actually ran into my brother on law who'd been waiting atleast 2 hrs and talked to a guy that ordered at 645 and still waiting on it when I left and from order to me leaving was 3 hrs and he was there before me. I watched quite a lot of people walk before receiving their orders and had like 30 in lobby waiting for their carry out. The reason service was terrible and they most likely lost alot of long time customers along with myself is they offered door dash or Uber eats and the restaurant prioritized door dash and Uber orders for the pool to lazy to leave their houses to get food over those of us that took the time to drive up and pick it up and since an overwhelming number of people ordered door dash and Uber the 50 or more of us that called in carry out and made the drive to pickup we got pushed so far back our orders still weren't ready 3hrs or more later. So 3 hrs of my time 2 hrs of my time wasted sitting in lobby on Christmas when I coulda been spending with my family. And after 3 hrs of waiting and finally walking any food places that were open during tjat 3 hrs were closed so my kids and parents and myself got to eat sandwiches for dinner where we coulda got real food from an establishment that was open and not putting delivery orders over carryout. Never eating or ordering from this place again. A 20 plus yr loyal customer turned off their establishment altogether over how they handled today and put people that showed up behind people that didn't. I'd rethink coming here if I were you. I decided to try this place Monday because it is super close to my boyfriends house, and I was there on my day off. We usually go to a few different known Chinese places that he and his coworkers suggest in the area, but have never tried here. I think I understand why No one had suggested this place yet. The woman on the phone seemed confused and annoyed with my call in order first thing. And when I got there to pick it up it took her a while to figure out what order was mine(there were only 2 there..) I got the orange chicken with fried rice and crab Rangoon and then a small order of fried dumplings I planned on saving half to take to work with me the next day. The "fried rice" was less than impressive. It was awful. Nothing in it, just looked like half cooked steamed rice and tasted like it too. I like the fried rice to have egg and veggies in it. Nope. Not here. The dumplings were alright, I did enjoy the sauce it came with but the meat inside was a little iffy. And the orange chicken was OK at best. After eating that I was a little disappointed and probably wouldn't have gone back there just from what I did experience. But wait there's more, not only was the food not great, it gave me food poisoning. I have been terribly sick ever since I had it. No details needed, but if I had known I was going to be this miserable (and have to miss work) after trying a new place to me I would have just went to one of the familiar ones. The food is really good, but the customer service is lacking. I was debating about tipping since I had a small order and dine-in is not allowed, but I tipped anyway as I want to help out local businesses during this unique time. When I arrived, no one was there to assist me. After a couple minutes, a lady came to assist me and give me my order. She gave me my order and then slammed the glass in my face without a thank you. After I arrived home, I noticed my orange chicken was leaking throughout the bag as the box that it is placed in is not very secure or it was not nicely put into the box as I did not tip the bag at any point. More secure packaging would be great in the future as there was sauce leaking and got over the added sauces, napkins, and fork. I gave it 4 stars as the food is...
