Pains me to have to leave this review as a fellow business owner who was referred to this dry cleaner by a client of ours. A few months back I had dropped off some dry cleaning, a suit, for a family wedding to which I was apart of the wedding party itself. Weeks later I came, paid for my suit and hung it in my closet for the big day. Big day comes, we drive 4 hours up to Rhode Island. I grab my suit for photo's with the wedding party, we all have matching suits but much to my surprise, I have NO suit pants. As panic ensues the only option available to me 4 hours away was to wear my sons suit pants. Photo's ruined for the bride and groom as I am now in every photo, in a two color suit. When I get back to NJ I stop at Blacktie and ask for my pants. They have no idea what I am talking about, they will investigate and call me back, asap! well asap was ME calling back about 10 days later because I never heard from anyone and yes they found the pants. As I go to retrieve my pants, the owner seems to insinuate that the pants falling off the hanger was my fault because we didn't give them the right kind of hanger. although, if they were concerned of the hanger, they could have utilized one of the 10,000 the already have in the back. long story short, my fault? no. Should I have checked for a complete suit before I went up to the wedding, yes probably. Owner solution: "Credits on Account" but unfortunately it wont replace the countless photos I am in with a mismatched suit. Blacktie gets two stars because of the story I will get to talk about for the rest of my days on earth. Accident's happen, I'm sure my suit pants falling onto the floor going unnoticed by that staff was clearly not done on purpose, however it was the insinuation that perhaps this in some way was MY fault it fell off the hanger and the lack of urgency to resolve the matter that delivers this review today. Buyer beware, double check you clothing before you...
Read moreAvoid! Avoid! Avoid! I used to use Robert's Cleaners in Sayreville until they shut down due to a fire. As a result, I switched to Black Tie and have been extremely disappointed. The dry cleaner does not know how to handle quality clothes and has ruined 2 very expensive items. I was willing to overlook the first ruined dress and attribute that to an honest mistake or oversight, which anyone can make and give them a second chance. They then ruined the tailoring on a pair of silk pants by putting a patch on it, as though its a young child's pair of ripped old stockings. What's worse is the customer service. Instead of taking responsibility for the ruined articles and trying to find an amicable solution, the owner in both cases became very agitated, defensive and shifted the blame on me stating that i should know better on what items they can work on. They could have discussed a refund or reimbursement on the ruined items but Instead, out of false pride, terrible business etiquette and lack of customer appreciation, the owner lost a customer who spends over a thousand dollars a year on their services. With so much competition, I would caution anyone who cares about their clothes to find a better...
Read moreSo....I needed the white shirt part of my Brooks Brothers suit laundered and pressed. I only went here because not only was this the closest place to my aunt and uncle's house (where I'm staying) but because of the exceptional reviews and 4.5 star Google rating. Now I can see WHY. When Michael (the guy behind the counter) asked me for my address I got a little stumped not sure whether to give him my mom's or my aunt and uncle's address. So I told him "Well, I'm only visiting so I'll give you the address of where I'm staying" then he said, "nah, not necessary if you're only visiting. So what brings you here?" to which I replied "my sister's funeral" He not only immediately offered his condolences and sympathy but offered to clean my shirt for FREE.
What an AMAZING human being. We need more compassionate people like him...
