Google said theyâre open until 11 so I arrived at 9:53. I heard a message that sounded like they were closing soon. I thought that was odd but figured if true, I still had until 10:00. At 9:57, a message said they were closed. An employee told me I must stop shopping. I told her I figured they closed on an hour, not at a time such as 9:57. She said the problem is, if they close at 10:00, 50 more customers will come before 10:00 and she will be there until 11:00. She said she already had to turn someone away and tell them they were closed. I replied, âbut youâre not closed. Itâs 9:57, not 10:00.â
Perhaps this seems like splitting hairs but I thought it was strange. Iâve never run into this before in a late grocery store run.
Is this typical grocery store behavior? I wonder if a different closer is needed in order to stay open until closing time and if the owner knows they are turning away customers before close and that they apparently get a lot of customers late at night.
I would have appreciated those last few minutes since I ran to the store for a few items I wanted to use in the morning.
I did see a sign when I left that they started closing at 10pm...
Read moreWent in to get Deli Chicken and saw that they had rotisserie chickens with times of 4 and 8pm. This was around 5pm. I was buying the fried chicken but out of curiosity wanted to ask. When I asked the lady if they changed them out she said yes but they haven't had time and the chickens are changed every 4 hours. So if you put them out with sell by times of 8pm wouldn't you pull the 4pm ones? She said they don't "expire because they are used for salads." Which I understand working in retail and all. But to keep the chickens under a heat lamp and FOR SALE using an excuse you don't have time is ridiculous. It gets dry. Knowing this I still purchased my fried deli chicken and guess what it was DRY. It tasted horrible. I bought a 17.99 pack of it. So disappointed. She could have been proactive, apologized, and pulled the old chicken from the case. But it still sat there. Don't put a time on them if you just ignore it. Will be...
Read moreLove the store and they always have what I need but checking out is always a headache. Barb has checked me out several times and she always has an issue running my EWic card. Today she asked me âwell, do you want to try it some other time because itâs not working..â I find it inconvenient and rude that she would say that and not try to get help so I can use my preferred form of payment. I requested her to get someone who could help because I certainly needed to use my wic card, Marilyn was a sweetie and finished my transaction with no problem. Barb didnât greet me with a hello or tell me what my total was, itâs an awkward encounter and she definitely needs more training on customer service and how to be...
