Title: Extremely Disappointed - A Once-Favorite Indian Restaurant Misses the Mark
Review: It is with great disappointment that I write this one-star review for a restaurant that was once a favorite of mine. Having been a loyal customer of this Indian restaurant for quite some time, I feel compelled to express my utter dissatisfaction with the decline in its overall quality and service.
First and foremost, the most glaring issue was the severe decline in the quality of the food. The once vibrant and flavorful dishes now lack the authentic taste I had come to expect. The flavors seem watered down and lacking the depth and richness that drew me to this establishment initially. It's disheartening to witness such a significant drop in the quality of the cuisine.
Moreover, the portion sizes have diminished significantly. What used to be generously sized portions have now become disappointingly small. The price remains the same, but the quantity has noticeably reduced, leaving customers feeling unsatisfied and shortchanged. This change in portion size does not align with the value that was once offered by this restaurant.
Another area of concern is the decline in the overall service. The staff used to be attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. However, on my recent visits, I found the service to be unacceptably slow and unresponsive. The staff seemed disinterested, and it was challenging to get their attention when we needed assistance. This lack of attentiveness detracted significantly from the overall dining experience.
Furthermore, the cleanliness of the restaurant has declined noticeably. I encountered dirty tables and unclean restrooms, which is a clear indication of a lack of attention to detail and poor maintenance. This unsanitary environment was unappealing and contributed to my overall dissatisfaction.
In conclusion, it is with a heavy heart that I express my disappointment with this once-beloved Indian restaurant. The decline in the quality of the food, diminished portion sizes, lackluster service, and declining cleanliness have all contributed to my decision to no longer recommend this establishment. I hope that the management takes these concerns seriously and strives to regain the excellence they...
Read moreI am so disappointed with the direction this restaurant has taken since coming under new ownership. My husband and I LOVED Zaika when they first opened, and were loyal customers all throughout the pandemic and shortly after. Then it came under new owners, and the quality of the food has deteriorated drastically. We have continued to try and give more and more chances hoping that it was just growing pains, but we will NOT be back. Today (after the last several visits having subpar food quality and dirty atmosphere which left us questioning whether we should continue going back), we ordered chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, two basic staples IMO. I ended up taking back the Chicken Tikka Masala because it was a thin broth consistency with NO flavor at all, literally tasted like red-colored water. The owner profusely apologized and was very accommodating, and refired a replacement as I explained how tasteless it was and how the texture was complete off, didn’t taste like anything we’ve gotten from them prior. While I waited I walked around the front of house, and my shoes literally made sticky noises as I walked, the floors were so dirty, which made me wonder if we should eat the food. They brought the replacement, again with apologies, so I hoped they would have improved and then returned home. Unfortunately the second prep was as poor and tasteless as the first. I literally ate a few pieces and threw it in the trash, it was watery broth with red coloring again and no flavor, the chicken was fine but obviously had been pre-cooked and dried out. So disappointing, we used to LOVE this restaurant and rave to our friends about how great their quality is, but we will NEVER return after our last few experiences. I am not one to take food back to a restaurant, as I understand quality and variances can occur, but this was just inedible. Very sad, we like supporting small, local businesses but will not continue to...
Read moreThe food is amazing. We have loved each dish we have ordered. The Tikka Masala, the Chicken Vindaloo, the butter chicken, the korma. ALL ARE GREAT! However, I guess like everywhere else they are short staffed. I called a number of times to order because I had questions about a few menu items. It went to voicemail. I have never had that happen before and didn't think anything of it so I went on their website and placed an order online. The only way is through GrubHub which I don't love, but it is what it is. I got a text telling me when my order was going to be ready(about 45 mins), and then clicked a link I was emailed (before we left) and it also said it was about 45 mins from the time I ordered. My husband got there a few minutes before the order was due and it wasn't ready. He then proceeded to wait for almost an hour for our order to be ready. We had no way to cancel because through GrubHub once it's sent to the restaurant you can't cancel. He saw multiple people walk in and out with their food and was lied to about when those people ordered. I called and spoke with the manager and she apologized they were short staffed (2-3 people called in sick) which I can understand. What I can't understand is why you wouldn't pull down your online ordering for the night when you can't update or fulfil your promises. There has to be a way to close online orders for a period of time OR offer and REALISTIC pickup time. The last issue was that when I talked to the manager she offered me a free dessert and a refund for the naan (maybe a total of $7) and while my husband was in the restaurant they told him our meal would be comped aka no charge. I think this business needs to look at an alternative to GrubHub if possible. Lessons learned. If a place isn't answering during business hours, they are likely slammed so don't opt to...
