This is one autonomous run amuck gargantuan terrible place that does not actually care about real people nor does it honor the Patients Privacy or the Patients Rights. I have had one terrible never ending nightmare of a time dealing with this enterprise which is directly linked to UNMC.
I do not recommend the Fred and Pamela Buffet Cancer Center nor UNMC to anyone ever. All they want are your specimens and tissue samples taken out of you with no anesthesia. When I begged them to stop. They refused. When I cried out in pain they kept cutting. They told me, "it's all for Research."
They tried to throw me out 1 day after MAJOR SURGERY. I was on Oxygen. I had a Catheter. I told the Dr. "I feel so weak and as if I am dying." I had labor pains for 12 plus hours. Only the Nurses helped to save me. Only God and the Nurses saved me. If it wasn't for those Nurses; I would not have survived. I thank them all. Except for the one Nurse to the Oncologist and OBGYN who is just as cruel as her bosses.
1 day after Major Surgery I went into serious Labor Pains. I watched my blood pressure plummet past 40. The OBGYN yelled at me, hit my tray with her hand-(karate chopped over and over)and sarcastically told me, "I am Upset with You!" And she freaked out and had a giant Temper tantrum as I was barely conscious; had just had 2 major surgeries at 1 time. She was the scariest thing I have ever been around. She called in the Nurse who was trying to help me and chewed her out, as I literally lay there dying.
1 day after Major Surgery and they told me I had to get ready to leave. My body had just had a giant tumor taken out and I had a DNC at the same time. I had just gotten all stitched up, had 2 IVs, was on Oxygen, could not breathe, on a catheter, could not even sit up in bed---was literally hanging by a thread and they tried to throw me out.
The Home Health Care which I fastidiously pre-planned and stressed the necessity of-- completely fell apart. They did nothing to help me. Nothing. It is a Miracle that I lived. A Miracle!!!!!
The Oncology OBGYN treated me SO unbelievably cruelly and inhumanely. And nothing was ever done about that. Except for this place to slander me continuously. They are still slandering me. They have hampered my care ever since.
A total lack of respect, lack of any compassion for me and no real Medical help -- that was my experience.
They play a lot of games and tell a lot of lies. They are very happy to slander me and destroy my chances with other Providers. They have tried multiple bullying tactics with me. They are demeaning to me. I was not treated with humanity, or respect and my HIPPA Rights were consistently ignored.
This facility rakes in the Research money and funding because that is their main focus: Research.
NOT the Patient :( unless you have a lot of money. Disgusting.
No oversight. No regulation. Just one giant autonomous free-for-all of a bunch of mad research scientists that I do not think of as Doctors. Not anymore. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to go there--not...
Read moreMy dad was quickly taken in as a patient with the Head and Neck Cancer specialists. He was inpatient for a few days and then discharged although I fought with them that he wasn’t fit to go home, but they let him go.
He ended up coming right back less than 48 hrs later. He had a form of dementia and was confused, hallucinating, ETC. The nurses did a great job of redirecting my dad and reminding him of where he is and why.
Unfortunately, the cancer became untreatable. While we waited to find a hospice or care facility, the social workers worked hard to help me and my Dad. The internal medicine team was wonderful, oncology answered all of my questions, and palliative care made sure he was comfortable.
He is now placed in a facility and living his final days in peace and outside enjoying the weather.
The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because there was an incident where dad got confused and said he needed to go outside. The nurse said he could walk the halls. He got dressed and was wandering around a parking garage. I knew he was gone before they did because I called him to...
Read moreI got to the Buffet center at 3pm for major pain in my arm from lymphedema and the doctor put orders into pharmacy for a pain relief and antibiotic. It's 7:00pm and I'm still here as nurse comes in with a shot this shot that looked familiar. I asked what bbn it was and she told me and I said I haven't been on that for over 6mths and was to be removed. Said oh oops looks like the pharmacy just saw "shot" and thought it was that but "didn't see" your shots ordered from today as didn't look/read whole details doctors sent over so you will have to wait longer for them to make it and other orders are in to be filled as they do them as per requested. So I have been siting her for many hours waiting on the wrong stuff and now have to wait longer as nurse said it was a mistake and if the doctor would of said more then shot would of helped. NO you all doing your job reading stuff other then glimpsing stuff would help tremendously!!. Thank gosh I asked what was what before they shot me up with stuff that would...
