We were really looking forward to trying this place—it’s near our home and has been on our list for a while. Unfortunately, our first visit was very disappointing.
The pizza tasted burnt, and the salad was drenched in dressing. After our food was brought out, no one checked on us. The only attentive service we received was from the person refilling our water and pre-bussing tables—they were prompt and polite.
When asked about our experience, we gave honest feedback. Instead of empathy or an attempt to make things right, we were told, “that’s just how our pizza is.” I mentioned that I’ve had grilled pizza elsewhere that didn’t taste burnt, but the concern was brushed off.
We were also told they were short-staffed and busy—while that may be true, it’s not something that should be passed off to the customer as an excuse for poor service.
We were genuinely excited to support a local spot, but this experience was underwhelming across the board. Sadly, we won’t be returning.
Reply to Nicole:
Thank you for the response, Nicole. I do appreciate you taking the time to reply. That said, it honestly feels a bit too late. We brought up our concerns during the visit, and had they been acknowledged with any real empathy or effort, there likely wouldn’t have been a need to leave a review.
As someone who’s worked in the service industry, I understand things can get busy—but that’s also why I know how important it is to listen and respond in the moment. We were excited to try your restaurant for the first time and mentioned that to the staff. Unfortunately, there’s no second chance at a first impression, and this one fell short.
We’re not expecting anything in return, but as a business owner, this is something you should know. With so many places to choose from, the customer...
Read moreI love their pizza- an omaha staple. However, when throwing a graduation/elopement announcement/going away party, nothing went as planned. I specifically spoke with the organizer to explain that the food should not come out until AFTER the arrival of the guests of honor (myself & my husband) at 7:30, and I stated that I would pay for wine, beer, salad, and pizza but if guests wanted other drinks or food, they could order it on their own tab. The estimate was $400. When we arrived, the food had already been served and consumed with only half of one cold pizza remaining. Additionally, a guest apparently requested that there was an open bar and the restaurant accommodated without clearing with me. The guest said they’d pay for the tab, but the reason I did not want a lot of alcohol is because many of the other guests (myself included) do not drink and I did not want to have everyone else drinking around us. I find it very odd that the staff would not clear it with me.
The servers in the party room were incredibly rude- they rolled their eyes and had a consistent scowl on their faces. It was absolutely ridiculous- on top of all that, but the bill ended up being over three times the amount we had budgeted for. It was an incredibly disappointing event, unfortunately. The whole night was tainted which is especially unfortunate considering the many things we were celebrating.
La casa is delicious and I’ve been coming here my entire life. They’re good for going out to dinner but I will never recommend for events. This left a bitter taste in my mouth and I will not be able to enjoy it...
Read moreThe staff wasn't engaging & we were considering a bottle of wine when our server initially came up to the table. We ordered waters while we considered our meals & wine. We then sat while 3 other tables were sat & had beverage service before our server returned for our order. By now we just wanted to order and eat so we could leave. I had made eye contact several times as the people around us were being served & I watched as our server rolled her eyes after another table in her section ordered waters. After delivering the waters the server came to get our order just as we were getting up to leave without ordering/eating, in hindsight we should've left. Nevertheless, out of loyalty to an establishment that has been serving one of the best pizzas in Omaha for generations we stayed. Unfortunately the service never did improve and surprisingly the food was less than okay, which I hadn't thought I'd ever say, but the entire staff must've been having a bad day. I can honestly say I was disappointed w the entire dining experience. So prior to leaving we decided to tip our sever 100% of the bill & as I handed her the payment I said no change needed, hope this will change your energy and that it's contagious because attitude can make or break you in this industry. Speaking from 35+ years in hospitality and food service, and at a time that most family owned businesses are locking their doors due to the overhead.
