I adopted a gorgeous girl that I was told was dog selective. I understood that going in, being a prior multiple pit owner this is understood since most pit owners don't socialize them. After all this, I thought let's look at this facilities facebook page and noticed they list her as absolutely NO dogs...
Issue 1: I was told it was $150 on the phone. At time of adoption I was told $300. My paperwork was clearly sitting in eye view and said $150. After pointing out I was told it was $150 I was charged $150.
Issue 2: the short meet & greet with Cora and our dog went well enough to decide too give the adoption a test run. Unfortunately and not completely thought about at the time. This location brought other dogs outside during this time which distracted Cora from our current dog. Dogs I clearly remember the staff member saying Cora doesn't get along with that one.
Issue 3: During the 2 minute sign here, initial all these spots. I didn't even think about this but....if they give and offer 6 weeks free professional classes offered for "reactivity" why haven't they given Cora this class on there own?
Issue 4: No where in Cora's profile did it state: -She food guards... -She toy guards... -She even crate guards... --- in home our dog couldn't even walk near the crate while she's in it. Snarled, shows teeth, growls, barks, side eyes, snaps at air, lunges. -Shes biten multiple (not 1) young children according to the documents. Photo attached of document I clearly didn't interpret well. Apparently this facility does not test these things. They're not important things for them to test or disclose up front.
Issue 5: only discovered today a week after this review originally posted but this CRHS has a facebook post about Cora that says absolutely NO dogs. This bit of information should have been discussed during the initial phone conversation. Period.
Negative 1 Star review because -The above undisclosed information. -They will not refund (contract) and/or would not pick up Cora and consider my money a donation covering Cora's adoption fees. I gave them both options. -Cora's white ear was disgusting. See photo -Desk fool called me after I'd left the premises telling me I hadn't signed one other document. I should've been skeptical and read that one... My assumption was I wouldn't ever be taken advantage of by a humane society. I was wrong. Hard lesson to learn.
"My precaution: Please do not have kids period or any kind of pet in your home. No cats, no dog(s), nothing that you love.* Period
My lesson learned, read, comprehend the severity of a child bite or multiple on this case, don't buy from a shelter. Never adopt from...
Read moreThis is hard because I adopted from the humane society nine years ago and they were great. This year is a completely different story. I don't know who is running the place but it looks like they need some new people. My cat went missing late April. I called the humane society first and reported him missing. I gave a VERY THOROUGH description of my cat down to which teeth were missing, looks, characteristics, and weird quirks that only the owner would know. They told me the cat they had was between 1 and 2 years old. Definitely not nine and no teeth were missing. I was called a MONTH later and told that they have my cat. Went to go check it out. They had my cat the whole time!!! Even the description they had on his kennel matched the quirks and everything I had my list of description I gave them a month prior and the wanted to charge me $300 for keeping him for the month. They were rude and tried to make me sounderstand negligent when they didn't document our multiple conversations. They dropped the charges in half claiming "it was miscommunication on both ends". Pretty sure the miscommunication was entirely on their end and I should never have had to pay $150+ dollars to get my cat back. I decided to give them another chance as we are in the process of growing our family and adopting a dog. We'll I went down to talk with them and meet the dog I was interested in and the refused because visiting hours are 1-5. I work at 2. I asked is there a way I can call ahead to make an appointment since I work everyday during visitation hours and/or how can we make this work. Nope. You can only go during visiting hours. They are unwilling to work with you or your schedule. BTW the dogs were having outside time while they clean there kennels. I honestly can't think of a better time to meet the dog while its relaxed and being natural. I'm pretty sure I could have gone and played with all the dogs and would have seen their real personalities and excitement. I really just think the humane society wants to keep the pets and not...
Read moreI love the coulee region humane society they are always so nice. When my parents adopted a cat from them he had two sores on his back that they didn't know what they were. They took him to there vet and no one could figure out what the two sores were. We decided to adopt him anyways because despite that it was love at first sight. We took him to Thomson animal clinic asap after we adopted him and found out he had skin cancer and needed to have surgery. Thomson animal clinic quoted us a very expensive price for the surgery. We called up the coulee region humane society and told them what's going on with the cat and told them we couldn't afford the surgery. They said we could return the cat for a healthy cat but we didn't want to give him back we loved him. They said they would talk to the people higher up in the office and would get back to us. They called back with in a week and said they would help pay for the vet bill to get him all healthy. They paid a good chunk of the vet bill for us. My parents cat got cancer free with the help of the coulee region humane society and my parents had the cat for a very very long time. They even held a banquet in his honor because they were so happy he got all healthy and they were so happy that we cared so much about him. Most people wouldn't adopt a cat like my parents cat. Most people would pass him up and because the coulee region humane society didn't know what was wrong with him. He would of eventually got put down. We saved him and for that the coulee region humane society was so happy with us. They care about there animals and they care about the people adopting the animals. He passed away a couple months ago. His name was bob. I don't understand why people are saying they are rude and that they are scammers and scam you out of your money. If it wasn't for them helping us out with the vet bill bob probably would of lived the rest of his life with the sores or get put down if we took him back. I thank you coule region humane society your the best. I wish I could rate this 1...
