We are so disappointed with this venue. Check the City of Orlando Code Enforcement website. This facility has a history of code violations and currently has three active violations, including operating without a permit, and unpaid property taxes. They have been shut-down by the City of Orlando because of these multiple violations and because they did not comply with the terms that the City placed on them as part of their agreement to continue to operate while the issues were worked out. Because they failed to comply with the terms, the City of Orlando sent the first cease and desist order in March of 2018. They still continued to operate and hold weddings, so the City sent the second cease and desist order in May. When they still continued to disobey the law, the City ordered that their power be shut-off. Per the City of Orlando's website, the next re-inspection date is not until December of 2018.
Per the terms of the contract that we entered into with them, we have asked for a refund because at the time they entered into the agreement with us (April of this year) they knew that they had a cease and desist order since March and an active violation with the City of Orlando since 2017 for operating without a permit. This is known as fraud in the inducement. Now they are saying that they have unilaterally amended the contract to include a new provision that they will not refund unless they know they cannot re-open the facility within 30 days of the event. We never negotiated a new contract. It's something they just made up on the fly. We've already retained an attorney and encourage those who have been defrauded by this shady venue to do the same. You can't use fraud and deception to trick someone into entering an agreement. Nor can you unilaterally amend a contract. Had they been honest and told us from the beginning that they were operating without a permit, not paying their taxes, and had an active violation with the City of Orlando, we would never have signed...
Read moreThe venue is very raw, but can be transformed. If you plan on having a band, that requires power, plan on spending an additional $1700.00 for a generator. The 6' tables they say are include are actually plastic fold out tables. If you want the nicer wood ones it will be an additional cost. Four tables cost me $477.00. The main contact was very hard to get ahold of and very slow to respond. That is if he bothers to respond or show up for scheduled calls. We were begging for 6 weeks for a call and were finally able to connect with the venue manager 4 days before our event. It was very stressful. Nothing we spoke with Kevin about was communicated to the venue manager. So we were planning details with them 4 days prior to the event. When I did a walk through, Kevin said we could use the back outdoor space and he would have it completely cleaned up. It was disgusting with dead trees, weeds and trash. It was not useable! The bathrooms were very dirty with dust and bugs. I guess once you sign the contract you are on your own. We used our own decor, lighting and catering companies. The Valet (that is also required at $650.00) did a great job. The venue manager worked very hard to make things right. All in all we made it great, but the lack of communication and follow through made for a...
Read moreI was at 1010 WEST to see a string quartet perform the songs of Adele by candlelight. I was not sure what to expect as this was my first time at this venue. I was told parking was difficult and to use their valet parking. Upon arriving, the parking for the event was right next to 1010 WEST. It wasn't valet parking but self parking guided by the parking crew. And only $10. The guys handling the parking were great and efficient. Arriving at 1010 WEST the facade was underwhelming but we were met outside by very happy employees who seemed genuinely glad we were there. Then we entered the space and WOW. I was not expecting this. A huge room with a big vaulted ceiling, which explains why it's also referred to as The Hanger. We were greeted to a small stage and just under 300 chairs and about 2000 LED candles. The only issues I had were the following. The folding chairs are so uncomfortable. Thankfully our show was only about 80 minutes long. I get it's an event space but they were bad. The quartet used a very poor microphone when talking to the audience but I'm not sure if that was theirs or 1010 WEST. The show was great and I loved the venue. I will certainly go back. It's visually fun to be inside and their staff made us...
