Texas’s Chicken & Grill — Restaurant in Orlando

OMG! Why am I just discovering this place! It is right down the street from my all time favorite chicken place (literally at the next corner), but this is way better! I was on my way back to Tampa and wanted something to eat for the ride. When we lived in Orlando, I saw this place on the way to the soccer game and thought it looked like a dump. I thought, "there's no way it beats Church's". Boy was I wrong! Let me preface this with the fact that when I was a bad vegan, I reserved Church's for my one cheat day of the year. Thats how much I love their chicken. This place has taken their place for sure! I ordered the 3 piece chicken tenders/strips but substituted okra (which was an extra charge but totally worth it). The food came out super hot and crispy. The strips were large and meaty. I couldn't even finish them and there was a ton of okra too. I don't know what seasoning they use but it tasted like a cross between Tony Chachere's and Old Bay. It was even on the okra. So delicious! My family finished it off when I got home. They liked it so much that my husband was trying to drive back to Orlando right then to get more (I finally talked him out of it due to the traffic)!They are very friendly. have ordered from there several times. each time something is wrong with order but that I attribute to the fact that most of the staff do not speak English very well. Tonight I clearly stated the item # as on their menu (#17 chicken liver dinner),which is supposed to come with fries & drink. I was charged the price for that item and didnt get either a drink or the fries. When I called to complain, after waiting 30 mins longer for my food to be delivered than I was told (which was a total of an hour & a half), I was told that they had me on speaker when I made my order & I said chicken livers. That is correct, I said livers because the # 17 menu item is either gizzards or livers so I wanted to be sure they knew what I wanted....I ALSO SAID # 17 !!!! so even if you dont speak english as your first language,you should know the #17 comes with fries and a drink !!!!!! I recently visited New Texas Fried Chicken and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak, wings, and fried chicken, and everything was cooked to perfection.
