Last Thursday, October 7th, I visited Amway Center for the Harry Styles concert. The concert itself was an amazing, unforgettable experience. However, the guest experience we had while in line was also (unfortunately) very hard to forget. For other states, the venues that hosted LOVE ON TOUR provided a bracelet system early in the morning that allowed guests to go back home and only return to the venue near the time the doors would open (around 4pm). My friends and I expected Amway to do the same, since the strategy seemed to be a great one that allowed people to still work or do their normal daily activities during the day and enjoy the concert at night. We called Amway on the Monday of the same week and requested information about the bracelet system. They told us "Lines will start forming at 7am. There is no information about bracelets." Amway proceeded to send all ticket owners an e-mail saying lines would start forming at 7am, and that camping overnight at the premises was prohibited (which it should be, Downtown Orlando is super dangerous!). My friends and I got there at 6:40am, with a line ahead of us that went around the block, because people had indeed camped overnight, and Amway Center did nothing to prohibit them. With no previous information, we waited in lawn chairs on the sidewalk. At 7am, people from Amway staff started handing out bracelets! We thought that was the light at the end of the tunnel. I did not go to the line prepared for the concert, so I desperately wanted to be able to go back home and change. When the bracelets were handed out (we were in the 400s), they told us the bracelets were only for us to leave for a couple minutes to use the bathroom or eat, and it was our responsibility to communicate with people in line to let them know we were returning. Then, they proceeded to place us in an open field across the street from Amway Center, in 91 degree weather. We stayed there all day, a total of 14 hours. We had to call a friend to bring us umbrellas, water and food, because we were all in the verge of fainting when the sun was at its peak, midday. Several people had medical emergencies because of the heat. It also rained late in the afternoon. By the time of the concert, people were tired and dirty from the grass and sweat. Please don't see this comment as criticism towards the staff at Amway Center who attended us that day. If we had a miserable time waiting in line, they had it even worse! They had to babysit adults in an open field and were working hard at the end of the afternoon to keep us all organized and make sure people were not cutting the line. Props to them. Props to the people on staff who had to clean that disgusting field after we left, where people left an obscene amount of trash, umbrellas and even beach tents, because some did not have a car they could go back to. This review is directed towards the project coordinators and logistics professionals over at Amway Center, who could have helped the fans prepare way better for the day ahead. They could have let us use the bracelet to return later, and call people in to the GA Pit by number! The same way we had to show a ticket, we could have shown our bracelet number and enter in the same order we got or bracelet, creating a "virtual line." If there are logistical problems with that system beyond fixing, they could at the very least have communicated to us what they aready knew: That we were signing up to stay in line all day in an open field, directly exposed to the sun, and that we needed to basically camp there with sun protection, water and food. I really hope Amway Center can do better for the fans and guests attending the next events, so they can have a better experience than the one I did. It does not seem to...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. They build a parking garage that doesn’t accommodate all the seats so people were told they were sold out and had to find parking elsewhere where it was $40+ to park. Cops didn’t do anything in directing traffic. A car literally hit a puppy while it was trying to cross the road. Once we got to the entrance there are “No bag signs” showing u a tiny square that it has to fit. My bag was small so we waited and when we finally got through to security the lady put my bag on the shape it has to match and said “Mam it’s too big” and I said it fits the shape. The strap is the only thing that sticks out because it’s meant to so I can sling it on. But she wasn’t having it. I told her she can check it, I only had my glasses case and wallet in it. “you have to get rid of it or buy a locker” so we stepped out of line again, went to the locker area and I had to put my tiny bag there for $15. We are already out $55 without the cost of the 3 ticket seats I bought as a Christmas present totaling $700. Went back in line, did security again, and scanned our tickets. Found something to drink (beer can $15 each) and sat in our seats. Mind you they were nice seats I give them that but it was so costly I had to pay monthly for it which I finished that a few weeks before the actually game. Then we realized the Celtics had ALL THEIR STARTERS OUT! Bench players were playing…I was very disappointed in this. I get it they get injured but all 5 so close to the playoffs? Something is not right. In halftime my husband and his cousin got up to get another drink and something to snack on since they don’t let you bring anything inside bigger than your phone. He came back with another $15 beer and 2 tacos from Gringos totaling $14!!! Each taco was $7 each it was literally the size of tiny street tacos. They tasted bland and for that price it better have liquid gold in it. All in all we spent $814 to be parked in a random parking spot, treated like crap by security, over payed for bad tiny food, and the starters of the team we liked were not even playing. And we drove 2 hours to see them…I’m so disappointed it’s not even funny. I probably could have spent the same amount if I went to Boston and treated better. Disney handles events and guests 30x better than the Kia center. And this is coming from a Florida native! I have lived in central Florida all my life and when I say watch it at home or go to Boston I...
Read moreIt was perfect. My wife and I went to the AESPA concert and this was our first time at venue. It was such a pleasant experience we now only want to do concerts here. As a Guest Service professional i can honestly say the staff we met had some of the BEST customer service I've ever witnessed in my life. Starting from the moment we were in garage and couldn't find parking i told the attendant and he was able to quickly resolve the issue for myself and other guests. When we entered inside the transition was seamless. There was no line to get through security and the ticket scanners were very nice. We bought our tickets last minute on stubhub but we were able to get seats in the legends suite and all I can say is WOW. The suite experience was the cherry on a already pleasant cake. The staff that guided me to the suite entrance was very nice and personable and was a pleasure to talk to. The lady at the door to our suite was super nice as she told us the menu for the night and brought us to our seat. Before the show even started we were happy with our experience and would've been OK if the show didn't go on but luckily it did and boy oh boy was it one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The lighting and camers was perfect. My view was never obstructed and even as I kept getting more food and drinks I never felt like I went far from the action which helped keep me immersed in the experience. After the concert finished we were pleasantly surprised that the exit out of parking was also very smooth compared to other venues we've visited. This was a pain point my wife and I always loathe once the events end but this was my best exit concert experience ever. Kia Center you have gained my trust. Thank you and all your exemplary staff for hosting such a amazing experience. This was my 1st experience but will not be my last. P.s bring more K-Pop to...
