Over all, a good experience. Customer service is great, they always answer the phones, and show up to fix what needs to be fixed. They had no problem answering a million questions and were happy to help. Prices are reasonable/comparable and so is the pet fee. We had 6 adults, 3 kids and a dog and there was enough room for all of us. The reason for my 4 stars is the 5th wheel condition itself (we rented the Triton, delivered to Fort Wilderness) A lot of things weren't working properly- the door lock was giving us a lot of problems from the start and we had them come out several times to fix as we didnt feel comfortable leaving our valuables (and dog) unlocked for hours at a time while we left the campsite. At one point we were locked outside with our dog inside the camper. Luckily they showed up within 25 minutes of us calling to get inside to unlock the door. The dryer wouldn't work a couple times (even after turning it the way we were told.) Some of the blinds did not open. The glass panel on the right side of the slider door kept falling down every time opened the slider doors to use the patio. We ended up having to prop it up with a chair afraid it was going to keep slamming down and crack the glass. One of staff had to come and close up the patio because of it. The AC in the back of the unit (the "garage" area) blows strong directly on you if your staying in the top bunk. If you turn the vent slightly closed, it freezes over the unit (we learned by waking up covered in sweat, it was so hot) so you have no choice but to keep it open. There's no way to turn the direction of the flow so you will freeze! We ended up having to tape a pillow case hanging down to on side to keep the air blowing the other way. The control for the AC is hidden behind the washer/dryer so you really cant see the controls. They couldn't fix the ac problem but put a work order in. They also couldn't fix the lock issue as the unit needed replacing but did give us the master key. All in all, we are greatful for good and fast customer service, and some of these problems are expected with a rental but just sucks when you pay a good amount to stay in the camper and at fort wilderness and you cant us the amenities that you expected to use. Lastly for those who don't know (like we didn't as we've never rented a camper), bring 1 ply (RV safe) toilet paper! I don't know if it's written in the contract or on their website, but we didn't know or didnt read that part. We couldn't use any of the TP we brought. Luckily there was enough provided for us for our trip, but good to know for next time! Other than the little hiccups, we had...
Read moreWe’ve rented before through RV Share but unfortunately Disney’s new rules no longer allow that. We picked Escape RV as they are one of the 4 approved vendors.
Booking and delivery were great. No problems there.
The RV was disappointing and in need of maintenance for the price we paid. We usually pay around $1,000 for a 3 night rental with a golf cart including all taxes and fees. I paid $900 for 2 nights with no golf cart through Escape. The RV could use some love - almost all the blinds were broken so you couldn’t adjust them whatsoever (I wanted the window open so I could see the kids outside while cooking). The couch is in horrible condition (leather peeling) so there solution is to throw an itchy Mexican Blanket over it which was always falling off and horrible to sit on. The ad claims it has all the kitchen items you’d need but I had to dig to even find 4 forks for my family to eat. We bought paper plates because there was only one. A quick trip to the dollar store and $30 would solve this. The linens were just sheets on the beg and a bag of random blankets - one being a cheap plastic material. Hot water didn’t work (we followed instructions) - though I opted to not reach out to the host because it was already very late at night and my kids needed to get in bed stat. The master bed was pretty awful and were easy people when it comes to sleep - both my husband and I woke up numerous times with our hips numb from sleeping on our sides. It felt like sleeping on plywood with a mattress topper.
Every other time we’ve rented, the hosts have set up the rug and chairs. A nice touch that can only take a few minutes. We’ve even had hosts set up solar lights and cute extras - a little effort goes a long way. We had to find the chairs and rug (no one left notes on where they were) and set them up ourselves. You’d think that would be included in the $175 delivery fee.
We didn’t pay $75 for the cleaning fee. One of the items was to sweep and mop the floor - fine, no problems- except there was only swifter pads and no actual swifter so I got done on my hands and knees to mop. If you’re going to require something to be done, at least give us the proper tools. I’d also like to know what the $149 prep fee includes since the guests are asked to clean themselves or pay an extra $75 for it to be cleaned at the end of their trip.
I understand they now have a monopoly since they are one of 4 vendors so they can charge and do what they want- but I really expected better. We will explore other options for...
Read moreWe rented from this company for a week this December for a stay at Fort Wilderness. We ended up having to go through this company as a result of Disney’s new policy which only allows rentals from a short list of approved companies.
The company’s booking process was straightforward and their pre-arrival process was handled well. On our arrival day, they went in and set up everything on time as promised.
My main issue with this company is the condition of the unit we rented. We rented the Belle unit and our total rental cost for our stay from December 8 - 15 was $2,259 with all taxes and fees. This breaks down to $322 per day. This is obviously a pretty high price for an RV rental when you also have to consider the amount paid to Disney for the space as well. At that price, I believe the units condition was unacceptable.
The unit was advertised to sleep 10 people which I struggle to see how that would even be possible. There was a main bedroom which would sleep 2 adults, a smaller bedroom with a pull out also fitting 2 people, a loft space which really would only fit 2 children and a pull out in the living room which could sleep 2. However, for us, the pull out in the second bedroom was completely unusable and broken. The beds were also very uncomfortable and the linens were just cheap sheets and an assortment of random blankets.
The bathroom was a decent size but the shower was door was broken with a poor makeshift solution. Cushions were ripped in some places as well. We also had the fridge turn off randomly twice during our stay, ruining all of the food we had purchased and repurchased after the first time.
The company was quick to send out a tech to check the fridge issue on both occasions which was appreciated. The owner also called after the second fridge issue and indicated the company would do something financially to address the experience but then never followed up and no such action was taken.
Unfortunately, you don’t have a lot of options when it comes to Disney but I would definitely recommend looking at the other few companies before renting with Escape. We will definitely not be using them again. For the price you end up paying, you are better off renting a hotel room or one of the cabins now available at...
