Too bad they're going out of business at this location because it's perfectly central. Everything is pretty messy but that's because of after Christmas and overworked staff. But despite their being busy and the extremely good 60% off values on semi decent quality designer bags, and are making a whole mess of the place even worse, at least three employees went out of their way to help us and make sure we got exactly what we wanted and were checked out quickly, which is very important when you have an infant with you.
Let's face it, Amazon owns retail on this planet Earth, so Macy's has to make it on medium- to high-quality, high markup brands, and constant sales and promotions to give the illusion of deep discounts. But the fact is that there are real bargains to be had at Macy's, and we believe that you can go to Macy's and pay less than you do at Target, while Target offers about Walmart's quality level of merchandise at a Macy's regular price.
Would I ever buy anything at regular price from Macy's? that's a heck of a good question, because I can't remember paying full price for anything at a Macy's since, ever. but some of their sales are better than others so when it's a situation like today with 60% and more marked down on Calvin Klein and the better end of Michael kors, and even some Coach bags, it's clear that Macy's really does offer excellent value if you are willing to shop when it reaches clearance season for any given set of products. We think of their normal sales as full price, but their clearance delivers better for less. Just don't plan on getting the exact model or color you dreamed of.
this was never a large Macy's and to me it never seemed like a well-staffed Macy's even during the retail boom driven by the real estate bubble in around 2005 or so. But they do have just enough of what you need and they have it at the right pricesif you just tolerate a little bit of email and watch for the deals, plus of course the obvious times like right after Christmas. I didn't even need to look before we went this time. I knew half the store was going to be half off.
I hope corporate Macy's changes its mind, although the mall itself may be looking for different types of tenants now that it is changing over to more frontage space and less interior space to lease out. We like this Macy's despite its smaller size and we like the people who work there.
So, yes we gave 5 stars because we are rating it against other similarly-priced and staffed department stores in similar situations. It's still comfortable and it's still friendly and it's still a very good deal for medium- and high-quality stuff if you know how to time...
Read moreReturning a pair of shoes was a nightmare although I have the receipt and the shoes were in great condition, they were too small. A Female Store Manager at the Fashion Square Mall was very rude and the girl at the shoe department was beyond rude. Also I bought a 2 foundations at a Lancome counter and when I got home it was only one. I called the same day and no one answer the phone. I called tge next day and spoke to Stephanie. I told her what happened and she took my info and i even told her to look at the security camaras so they dont think i was trying to play a fast one. I have my receipts I told her that the girl name Kaylene was who sold it to me. 2 days when by,nobody have the courtesy to call me so I call back,Stephanie answer. As soon as I say my name and why I was calling she hang up on me. So I call back from a different number and somebody else answer. So I ask for Stephanie she is a (manager) and I told her that it was me. So she say we have your foundation. So I when to get it to the Macy's at the Fashion Square Mall and when I got there it was a girl that didn't have a clue about my foundation situation. So she when to get help. Here comes Kaylene the girl that sold then to me and forgot one of then. She didn't say hi,no smile,no apology, she ask for my receipt and proceed to do an Even exchange although I was not returning anything! This was a little bizarre. It was like if I did something wrong the way it was handle. Why not say I am so sorry that I forgot your foundation. Customer Service at the Lancome counter at the Fashion square Mall is horrible! And that Female Store Manager need to take classes on Customer Service. They are lacking on...
Read moreI have been very disappointed with Macy's in the last year, possibly two years even. They have the most non- existent customer service that I have seen. There is never a salesperson .Whether you need them or not. I usually go after 6 pm because it has cooled down a bit. I also try to go later in the day b/c it isn't crowded. I recently took advantage of a pre- sale in which you pay for ALL items at a discount and pick them up on a later date.I had bought some belts. and it was the only one and it was perfect along w/a 3 pk of skinny belts at a great price. When I went to pick them up on the specified day, they had 1 skinny belt in black patent leather that I had never seen before and that was it. ......???...How do you misplace 4 belts and find one that you never chose to buy ?? They kept looking and looking but NO BELTS. i took the one that they had chosen for me and left. Macy's has some of the highest priced clothing in town but NO CUSTOMER SERVICE whatsoever. If you are lucky to find an open register, they take all day. I am totally frustrated with them and that is the best excuse to shop several stores who have MUCH lower prices. Granted , there isn't much customer service in the lower priced clothing stores but the savings and great buys you find make it not...
