I came to this store because I was purchasing some acrylic rhinestones to decorate a t-shirt I had purchased at another store. I had purchased all the stones at 2 other Hobby Lobby’s where the staff was quite helpful. The store at Merriam, Kansas had called ahead and had the item placed on hold for me. I came into the store where I was greeted by the staff explained to them why I was there to pick up an item I had placed on hold. They explained to me to go to Register 10 where the on hold items where placed and it would have my name on it. I continued through the store shopping and when I located the additional items I wanted to purchase I headed back up front to the Register 10 to pickup my on hold items. I woman walked up to me as if she wanted to help me and she asked me why I was there. While looking for the items with my name on them she asked more questions like an interrogation, like I was stealing. She told me normally a cashier would get the items and I explained to her that was how I knew where the item was because a cashier told me where to look. While checking out I shared my experience with the woman I went on to find out her name was Tammy, I told the cashier Tammy was very rude towards me and that I wanted to file a complaint with Corporate on her. The cashier was Desiree. She apologized for Tammy’s rude behavior. I’m taking time to write this review because instead of being treated like a customer Tammy, an employee of Hobby Lobby, treated me like a criminal. What a shame. Still being judged by the color of my skin. Desiree saved my experience here. I am a Secret Shopper, just not at this...
Read moreIf you’re a person of color, I highly recommend avoiding this store. Unfortunately, most of the staff seem to harbor racist attitudes and treat anyone who isn’t white with disrespect. I’ve visited twice, and both experiences were incredibly disappointing.
The first time, I brushed it off, thinking the cashier might have just been having a bad day. But during my second visit, the treatment I received made it clear this wasn’t a one-time issue. While waiting in line, I watched as the employee was friendly and polite to every white customer ahead of me. But when it was my turn, her demeanor shifted completely—no eye contact, no greeting, and an overall cold and dismissive attitude. Once I paid and stepped away, I saw her immediately revert to being warm and cheerful with the next customer, who was white.
It’s infuriating and heartbreaking to realize that I’m treated differently solely because of the color of my skin—something none of us choose. When will people stop being so unkind over something so arbitrary? My friend also had a similar experience here recently, which only reinforces that this behavior isn’t an isolated incident.
If you value your dignity and sanity, I strongly suggest steering clear of this place. Racism has no place in any business, yet this location seems steeped in it. Beyond...
Read moreI have a family member who works for Hobby Lobby and a lot of people are having an issue with the “manager” up front in the reviews. From what they’ve told me, the person wearing the “Customer Service Manager” badge SOLE PURPOSE is not to hop on the register but to control the lines and help cashiers. I absolutely think this is dumb! but compared to other Hobby Lobby’s in the metro, the main lady I usually see wearing this badge at this location always tries her best. She has black curly hair, I think her name is Erica. She always greets me walking in and out of the store. Also, the “customer service manager” person doesn’t hire nor control the schedule for cashiers. It’s not their fault the lines are long! People need to complain to the STORE manager about this or corporate. The badge they put on these people is very misleading and this company needs to address it. The floor associate is literally making the same money as that “customer service manager.” Stop giving these people such a hard time! So please ask for the store manger and like I said the main lady at this location actually tries...
