Poor Service and follow up. I had lunch with my husband, sat in Kevin's section which at the time was pretty vacant. He came around, had someone training with him. He took our drink orders, and several minutes later came out with drinks and took our food order.
I was clear in my ordering that I wanted a burger, and mayo on the side. The food took quite a while, but I wasn't too concerned. A nice women brought the food out, and my burger didn't have the mayo I requested, so I asked her for it. I don't like burgers without mayo, so I ate my fries, but my burger just continued to get colder and colder. My water was also empty for the majority of the time. My husband completed his lunch and we still sat waiting and waiting. Finally, at the point when normally the waiter would be bringing the check, I was finally able to grab the trainees attention and ask for the mayo. Several minutes later he brought it out, but I realized my burger was completely cold, and I also didn't want to make my husband sit and watch me eat, so may as well microwave it at home.
While that's annoying and reason for a poor tip, what drove me to write a review was that despite the fact that this person was training a new hire, he seemed to be terrible at his job. He didn't take down the note I made upfront in my order. Then he disappeared through the entire meal, never checking on drinks, never checked to see if our food was tasting good, I had to get proactive to get any attention from him.
Once I asked for a box explaining that my food was cold by now, so I'll just eat at home, he brought the box, but never expressed any apologetic tone, and didn't make any excuse to make me understand why this isn't standard service. Instead he sent the woman that delivered the food to come out who offered a super sweet apology, and just seemed personally devastated that she had forgotten. I have a feeling he was nasty to her in the back, or reported her to management. That is just not right, it was his mistake to begin with, not only for not making the note, but leaving us on our own the majority of the meal, and never apologizing. Sure, she could've remembered, but it seemed like she was plenty busy, and also- she wasn't our server, he was. I would tell the trainee this was a "here's how to not do it example."
I served myself for years, and trained plenty of new hires, and while it can be a hassle, it's also an extra set of hands if you use the resource well. Kevin was not efficient with his new hire, not a good provider of service, and seemed to throw his co-worker under the bus which makes my blood boil. Can't imagine I'll be back, and just glad I wasted my money on a cold burger and not a more expensive item...
Read moreSecond visit to this Outback. First the food was great, again. We had the Volcano shrimp and the ceaser salad with shrimp added. We ordered the shrimp scampi with cheese but did not care for it(bland). Restuarant was clean and moderately busy. Now for the issues, Michael K. was our waiter. As we were seated he was taking the order at an adjacent table while seated, I assumed it was because he was having trouble. hearing or understanding the Asian lady who was talking to him...cool deal. He then proceeded to turn around, while still seated and took the order from another adjacent table. When done there he scooted, still seated to our table. No longer cool. Micheal was otherwise polite. Took our orders, and compared to frequency from dining area to kitchen with two other waiters seemed to have a noticable delay comparitively staying out of the dining area. When our salad was delivered, I asked for more ceasar dressing, he acknowledged me, then proceeded to take another order, after a few minutes (salad still waiting for a fork to enter the bowl), I looked for our waiter who was now clearing a table. I asked a passing manger and informed her of my request to our waiter and his current activity, she promptly said she would take care of it. At one point both were out of sight in the kitchen area, the manager reappeared with our ectra ceasar dressing, forks now diving into the salad, delicious by the way. Micheal emerged in time for the salad to be nearly devoured, and he then presented us with our requested extra ceasar dressing...cool right...no. We requested the check and a small to go box. After a few minutes, another waiter had already come and gone at least twice taking care of his tables, not a real gauge of time keeping but enough for me to again wave down the same manager. I informed her of my request, and that our waiter seems a bit slow. She offered the excuse he (Micheal) is usually the bartender. Micheal brought out our bill and box. We enjoyed our food but we will request another waiter when we...
Read moreThis was my first ( and LAST ) time visiting your restaurant located at 9501. On 02/23/25 [Sunday] afternoon I decided to take my 85 year mom and my aunt out to eat as we where out shopping.Upon entering your location we were not greeted by your hostess who presented herself in a very unwilling manner. The hostess wore a long lipoard sweater that looked more like a house coat garment,as we waited to be seated ,with her hands she kept picking her nose ,drinking from a cup and coughing and again picking her nose. Finally, after about 15 mins, we were escorted to the back of the restaurant also immediately my mom asked to be placed away from the restroom/lichtenstein area, and they complied upon being seated the young afro American waiter presented our menus and we placed our drink order, one coke, two lemonades. after about five minutes after that, we noticed the seating area was too small for three grown adults, so I went up to the manager and asked for better seating he complied. We placed our orders. My aunt had potato soup and an onion ring bowl my mom had chicken fried steak of some kind and salad. I had the chicken fingers..After 19 mins our food arrived, the potato soup was FULL of SALT.( I sent it back for her). Both lemonades were had too much sugar I sent them back with a coke replacement and then my aunt said her onion ring bowl was COLD.I immediately asked for the check of $66.49 I tipped the server $10 and left this ruined what was to have been a memorable day with my mom as she battles her...
