Iron Gate Feed Inc — Local services in Palestine

I've been putting off writing this review since the middle of last year. Drove by there today and remembered the experience I had. To start off with, trust the other reviews that say the owner of this place is rude. Sometime last year during the middle of summer I was walking from westwood to a business downtown. I ended up walking by this business when the water in my bottle ran out. It was about 95 degrees outside or so. I went inside and was met by 4 or 5 older gentlemen that were talking. Im sure they all didnt work there. The owner went behind the counter and asked, "what can I get ya." I asked him if he has a water fountain or anything I could use to fill my bottle. He responded with, "Not for you, I have water for my workers only." I replied with, "man I'll buy a bottle off of ya if you dont mind, or could even fill my bottle up with your garden hose." He looked at me for a second, and said, "like I told ya, water is for my workers only." So I'm standing there, pouring sweat. I didnt have a response. I buy dogfood from this place all the time because they carry a high protein food. But that was the last and final time I will ever step foot in...

The owner was knowledgeable but after a while he was just full of himself. He was super rude and petty. His cat followed us out the door and I didn't notice. He was basically pushing the door on me cause according to him I was not closing it fast enough. I stayed around a bit cause I wanted to put his cat back inside for him. Once I picked him up he opened the door abruptly and said "he's going to start following you if you keep petting him like that" he took the cat from my hands and close the door rudely. If he would have actually paid attention I was not petting his cat I was just trying to help him I will never come back because customer service is so easy to display. Unhappy with the product (iron peas) 150lbs full of beetles. When I called to warn them about their stock, he said, it happens this time of year. He said he would refund me if I brought them back but I was already 30 min away and out in the field. Plus they close in under an hour and I needed to get the seed in the ground today.

He assured me they wouldn’t be bothered by the bugs and would still germinate. Obviously, he and I know better than that but I pray I get some still produce.

I would’ve apologized offered a refund and told me to go ahead a plant what I had and that I’d do everything to prevent that in the future.

I normally buy my seed in Buffalo but I wanted to try to spend my money in town opposed to out of town.
