My wife was and is a long time Maven member. When we had our first child naturally she gained weight like any mom would. About a year out after our first child was born, she managed to get back in to tip top shape like she never even had a kid! It was the right eating habits, and her dedication to working out through Maven that really made the difference. Meanwhile, I actually got worse with my fitness and health in that same time.
Finally I decided I had to do something and I started going with her. It is tough. I was quickly humbled as 60-70 year old grandmas were destroying me in the workout. But it was awesome. I didn't have to think about what workouts were effective, or how to change things up to keep things fresh. The coaches did all that. I just needed to show up and work hard.
If you want to take that next level step in changing your habits and health in a dramatic way, the Maven Project is an intensive course that is offered that locks you into a group of fellow Project class to give you that much needed accountability and push you need to take back control of your health. I'm halfway through the one month project and I can already sense a different relationship with both my diet and exercise.
The facilities/equipment is all top notch, Taylor is a tough but excellent coach. There's really a special culture in Maven that is both challenging and supportive at the same...
Read moreMaven Center has helped transform my relationship with exercise and food. I was never an athletic type and somehow that view of myself had actually kept me from being more active, although one doesn't need to be an athlete just to exercise. It's a basic form of self-care, but my view had been skewed. I also struggled with unhealthy eating habits and weight fluctuation for most of my life. Maven is where things changed for me and holistic transformation began to happen starting with the Maven Project.
It's been 6 years since then, and through the training and building better habits, I feel more equipped physically, mentally and emotionally to simply show up to life as best as I can each given day. And that feeling keeps me coming back to Maven. I hope for anyone to be able to experience this kind of lasting change too, especially if it's always felt impossible and "not-for-me." There may not be quick fixes or shortcuts to better health, but Dr. Lee and his team have fostered an amazing atmosphere of community over the years so you don't feel alone. You are challenged to grow in an encouraging and caring environment.
The newly opened Pal Park center is closer to me and my husband (who also happens to be doing Maven Project and seeing great changes), so we go together and love the atmosphere, facility and even the refreshing view of outside. I wholeheartedly recommend...
Read moreI was hoping that a Maven Center would open up closer to me than the one in Paramus... And it finally happened! I trained at the Maven Center before and it's the only gym where I not only saw, but felt results both physically and mentally. The gym is a combination of weight training and cardio. There are group classes daily or individual training if you are so inclined.
I think what makes Maven stand out from other similar gyms or fitness classes, is that proper technique is always taught and practiced in every class. Taylor Lee who owns and operates both gyms is a stickler for detail. He will notice if your posture is wrong or you aren't giving enough effort and he knows you can turn it up a notch. Also the Maven Project is a short term, yet effective program that can help you break your bad habits, addiction to bad foods and get you on the right track towards a healthier way of living and exercising.
Maven has a physical therapy area and Taylor is great at identifying the issue and proper exercises required to rehab. I had sciatica issues and the routine provided by Taylor at the Maven Center helped me recover and I still use the same exercises and stretches to keep from getting reinjured.
