I'm trying to find a new primary care doctor. Few doctors accept new patients, and most have been physicians for less than five years. This is concerning if you have complex medical needs.
The profiles for the doctors that are accepting new patients have no information about the doctor other than where they graduated college from and where they did their residency. You learn nothing about them. I was left to google the doctors. One doctor, I found an essay that she wrote when she was in college so I decided to choose her. The other doctor accepting new patient seems to operate a side hustle doing cosmetic procedures at a spa. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to decide which doctor to pick when Eisenhower doesn’t provide any useful facts about them. It just makes the doctors look incredibly inexperienced.
Days after scheduling an appointment over two months out, the appointment was canceled because the physician decided to take that week off. They did not automatically reschedule my appointment, and when I called to reschedule, I was told I would be waiting until October to see that doctor, so I decided to choose another inexperienced doctor, still a two-month wait. This is frustrating when you want to meet a doctor to see if you like them, and they have the experience you require, so you can decide if you want to hire them to be your primary care doctor. I have been waitlisted, but none of this is comforting and who knows if this appointment will be canceled. Makes you feel helpless and at their mercy.
Update: Hunger Games, Eisenhower style. I was put on a waitlist for a sooner appointment. I received this text message that there was an opening however, they send the invite for the sooner appointment to a whole bunch of people that are all on this waitlist. The appointment was gone in less than three minutes, so basically we’re all having to fight each other to get a sooner appointment instead of going down a list of people and the people that have been on the waitlist the longest get the first chance at the appointment. So if you have a job and can’t immediately jump, there is no way that you will ever get a sooner appointment. They’re basically just blasting it out to a whole big group of us. I also found out that anybody that was scheduled for an appointment two months out are all waitlisted even if they don’t ask for it. So l the waitlist is huge. Extremely disappointing to find this out. All in all, more bad customer service...
Read moreThe Family Med Doctor that I saw was outstanding! This poor review is for the front desk staff, the mismanagement by Eisenhower Medical Center, and the lackluster performance of the LVN, with an incompetent delivery for referrals. While this may seem quite scathing, it doesn't even come close to the frustration that I witnessed from another patient while waiting in the seating area. The general undertone was miserable in this office. The staff behind the desk were sharp with their tongues, abrasive, even condescending to the older gentleman waiting to receive his meds when he complained to the staff his medication refills had not been properly sent to his pharmacy in the last 4 weeks. Sounds like he had a good reason to be unhappy with them, and the front desk staff were dismissive and argumentative with him. Cannot imagine relying on this environment for "care". This is abysmal, and Eisenhower management should give each of them their walking papers, overhaul this clinic, hire new staff with proper training, and get on with putting patients first and delivering on their promises to "care" for people and make those referrals, Rx's, etc a simple confirmed order to the proper recipients so patients can receive the "care" they need punctually.
P.S. It's a known fact many of the Physicians here are residents in their training, and the supportive staff know this. So, when a resident physician isn't around because they're working in other locations they're required to be at, or has graduated their residency, the supportive staff must keep the patient "care" going through what's called "continuity of care." This is the standard executed by many successful graduate medical education (GME) designated hospitals all...
Read moreMy husband age 66 suffered a catastrophic brain stem stroke last Jan. He was in ICU, intermediate and rehab in Las Vegas. We moved back to CA for medical care accessibility as Nevada is not superior yet though we had a few excellent people in UMC and a rehab. We got an appointment with Dr. Mahmodian on Wednesday. The clinic is clean and we really appreciated the front desk person checking us in for she gave info we never had. Stephanie the nurse is amazing, gentle and skillful. Dr. Mahmodian did a comprehensive review of my husband's treatment thus far and he examined and prescribed important aggressive treatment with a nutritionist (still on gastric tube feedings due to severe dysphagia), physical, speech and occupational therapy, GI specialist as well as labs and diagnostics. We were assisted by the front desk again with rescheduling and info about resources. If you want an enthusiastic, energetic, youthful physician with a gift for caring about you and solving health issues, check them out. We live in the Sun City 55+ community off Washington so it is very close. Reserved parking for our wheelchair was close and the entire experience was fruitful. I was a registered nurse for 50 years and generally don't praise many medical professionals unless they reach my standards and I am super impressed with the service we received...
