I went here last week to switch out a refrigerator I had a warranty on. I spoke to Jimmy who told me to avoid two delivery cost, I should buy the refrigerator and I could get a full refund on the card I used within 3 to 5 business days (Jimmy called around and asked several different employees plus a manager if I could get a refund within 3 to 5 days if I took this route and they said I could.) Originally, at several other Menards I was told that I will have to bring my refrigerator back get a credit and then get the refrigerator sent out the next day, none of these locations had a black refrigerator, which landed me at the Harlem location. When I asked why I wasn’t offered this at the other stores they said they didn’t know. Upon going back to get my refund, I spoke to Troy, the manager. who was completely rude. I was told that I couldn’t get a refund and I could only get store credit. When I explained that I was told something completely different by staff he did not want to hear me and could not understand my frustration with not receiving my money back. Troy did not even try to verify with staff what happened when I asked to speak to someone else he said he was the only one that could assist. When I asked for corporate number he basically told me I would have to look it up myself on the website. I continued to expressed to him that I did not feel like it was fair that I was getting store credit when I was told that I would get a full refund and he told me he was going to walk away. This manager acted like my concerns did not matter and my feelings were not valid. I do not believe his customer service skills were up to par with a manger and I fully plan to report him and the store to corporate. I fully believe that if I was told I was going to get a full refund then I should’ve. I did not plan to be out of my pocket $950 when I had a warranty, completely...
Read moreThis is, no doubt, thee worst laid out menards I ever seen. Hopefully it is actually the worst menards on the planet. I can't imagine a worse one. I came here for four things that would have been a 20 minute trip at any other store. The wainscoting is in the paint section. Not by any other wall coverings. I found it after asking and was told isle 17. If you follow the numbers 17 is invisible though. Here, 15 is followed by 52. Rolled insulation (an amount that could be carried) is in the warehouse outside but the large bundle (which requires a cart) is over in electrical. Trim boards; they aren't by the boards. They're upstairs by the piano player and if you need enough to put on a cart, you're in luck. Bad luck, as the carts that fit trim can't be brought down the ramp. "Those have to carried down by hand, Sir." Brilliant. Not even an offer to help. So, as I'm carrying 17 trim boards down the stairs over my head I run INTO another employee who is walking up the down ramp. Brilliant is still the right word... of course to make life easier the power is out here. Wasn't out when we got here, it went out while we were in the store. The great part is the employees don't react and they're telling shoppers this happens at least once a week. The dumbing down of the world really shines here. Enjoy. I wouldn't come back here for a box of nails. But if I did, I'd have equal chance of finding them in the lighting section as the lumber section so, I think I'd start in the lighting section. Not that any of the lights in the lighting section would be on... but it's closer to the windows so, at least if it's during the day some of the shelves...
Read moreBUYER BEWARE!!! Cannot recommend Menards because of their underhanded practices. I bought items with a debit cash card, but it was not what I expected so I returned then within the hour. Merchants have been able to return money to the card, but Menards could not. Cash should be the option in that case but they said they could only give me store credit. The problem is on their end, so I should not be forced to keep the items or spend my money in their store. If Menards won't return money when cash debit cards are used because they do not trust them, then they should not take money from them. That is underhanded and sneaky. This is not the first time Menards was underhanded with me; I returned merchandise I bought with cash but could not find the receipt so I accepted store credit. The next day I found the receipt and I took it in to get the cash; they refused to give me the cash because I did not bring the receipt in the same day and giving me cash the next day would mess up their accounting... Wow. The even more underhanded thing they did was that the receipt showed I bought insurance for the item and I paid more than they gave me in store credit; they refused to refund me the insurance and the difference!. It took a second trip back to the store and a lot of fighting to get that back!!! Now I am facing yet another fight for my money. Buyer beware... Where there is smoke there is fire. Done...
