This is a true gem. I’m not Hungarian; so I don’t have tradition as a guide. But, wow, I love everything I’ve ever tried from Dohar’s.

Double smoked bacon is incredible and a personal favorite of mine. Paradoxically, “double smoked” does NOT mean semi-dry and aggressively smokey tasting. To the contrary, the smoke is sweet and nuanced and not sharp at all. It’s round and mello and complex. And as others have said, it literally melts on your tongue. Truly, it is fine “charcuterie” in every sense. Amazing stuff.

The smoked garlic sausage is also fantastic. Again the smoke is there but it is not overpowering. Plenty of garlic but balanced, the flavor rounded with paprika. Spicy but not hot. And the texture is rich, like velvet.

Canadian bacon (smoked boneless pork loin) is another winner. Nice smoke but, again, balanced and not aggressive. This cut is naturally lean but the texture is still tender like butter. And it’s salty without being too salty.

Smoked pork chops are simply a thicker cut, bone-in version of Canadian bacon. Same wonderful stuff.

There are some things I haven’t tried yet, like cottage ham, for example. Will report back when I do. As I said, I am not Hungarian so I may never go in for the head cheese or hurka. But I have no doubt if that’s your thing, it’s probably great at Dohar’s.

One bit of advice, if you are going to make a trip, call ahead to be sure they have what you want in stock. They are really friendly and great people to work with but it’s all small batch, fresh-never-frozen stuff. So it sells out quickly (and that’s a big reason why it’s always so tasty and fresh). Absolutely top notch! Sorry to hear that they are leaving the West side market. That was always the first stop on a trip to the market when I was a kid. If you are a headcheese fan ( it's an aquired taste...if you grew up in a Hungarian household!) Their headcheese is by far the best I have ever had. Try the hot (spicy) headcheese....

Honestly I didn't know that this place was even here. But recently my son and daughter in law purchased a house on Somia and I pass it ALOT. Friendly very clean and ample parking. Family oriented and Covid...
