Pasadena Highlands — Local services in Pasadena

I am a service provider that has been coming to Pasadena Highlands for the past year and would like to share an insider’s perspective. Pasadena Highlands is a community that strives to do what is right for their residents. In the past year, management has done their due diligence in building a strong team of compassionate, hardworking, and dedicated care staff. New protocols have been created and implemented to efficiently answer emergency pendants and ensure care services are provided promptly. Additional staff has been added to assist in meeting resident care needs. Resident satisfaction has improved significantly.

Highlands has a seasoned Assisted Living management team. Director Laura oversees the daily operations of Assisted Living, she ensures residents, family, and service provider concerns are addressed. Laura makes it a priority to ensure that continuity of care is maintained. Med. Tech supervisor Sanda is well organized. Sanda monitors resident’s health status and ensures physicians' orders are carried out, implemented and medications are administered correctly by the med technicians. Care coordinator Tanisha oversees the caregivers and ensures that care needs are being met and that residents are in the appropriate level of care. The care staff and assisted living management team are the driving force of all the positive changes in the quality of care that has occurred and continues to take place at Highlands.

Additionally, the community grounds are beautifully landscaped and offers a wide view of the San Gabriel Mountains. Interiorly, the building has undergone interior design upgrades of new furnishings and décor that provide a warm home feeling to their residents.

After visiting frequently, here are some things I noticed:

The staff: The staff are all very warm hearted. I have never had any issues with any of them despite how stressful I know it can be to work in the industry. They make it look easy. Always greeted with a smile.

The building itself: Whoever is running the facility now is doing an amazing job with all the new renovations. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into the renovations because the new construction is resident focused. The new outside terrace is beautiful, and there were added activities to make sure the residents are never bored!

The care: The staff cares. The constant meetings that take place to discuss the residents condition and the decisions that are made to make sure the resident is getting the proper care and is at the correct level is better than I have seen at most places!

Activities: If you ever get a chance to meet Liz, you can tell how creative she is! From swing dancers, to jazz players, to tea time, to all the holiday events, to the Luau's, and even the Veterans Day ceremonies! There is so much though here. Great job activities team!

All in all, Pasadena Highlands makes me want to live there! I know how hard this industry can be. I also know when staff actually cares. They make the difficult decisions that we cannot make ourselves. They have the difficult discussions with families because they know how...

We are truly grateful to the administration and staff at Pasadena Highlands. Our Father was a resident on both their independent living and memory care floors. The guidance and support that we received from Sanda and Laura felt like that of family. Their sensitivity to our needs as advocates for our father and the time they spent guiding us was heartfelt. They supported us with their time, knowledge and consistent presence including taking calls and meetings after hours. Their genuine concern for our father was transparent. We experienced Laura to be a strong positive leader who gracefully and protectively takes care of her residents, their families and her staff. We were so impressed with her geriatric knowledge, professionalism and caring leadership. We are also thankful for the memory care staff specifically, Sylvia, Marguerite, and Maria who supported us as well. They were warm, helpful and positive. They went out of their way for us. They found kind and creative ways to make our dad feel safe, comfortable and at home. It was wonderful to see so many people operating with such love, using their gifts to bless others. We are now at peace that our father’s final days were surrounded by family, friends and all the lovely staff at...
