Frankly, I don't quite get this "scenic rail" journey. It's billed as "the best way to see the national park". I mean, I know that CVNP isn't exactly Yellowstone, but the train journey I took was really just a slow moving train ride from Peninsula to Akron and back. Yes, it's a train ride through the woods, a view of the river once or twice, but it's far from spectacular scenery.
There was some light narration during the ride, and maybe the trip would benefit from more - make the whole trip more informative and more interesting.
Another thing I found weird... The website I bought the tickets at said it was a 4-hour journey, but I think our trip was a little over an hour, maybe an hour and a half to Akron and back. Maybe the experience is different from a different station, but I'd be hard-pressed to recommend it...
