We ended up here on the fourth of July after a motorcycle ride. The four of us were looking for a cool place to relax and cool off. The parking lot was full but we were able to park close by. We gave our number to the hostess who would text us when our table was ready. We ordered a couple cold beers at the bar while waiting for our table. It wasn't long maybe 20 minutes before I was notified that our table was ready. The place was pretty crowded but our server Nikki assured us she would be with us soon. We had menus and drinks so we weren't in a big hurry. Right from the beginning Nikki communicated with us nicely, telling us everything we needed to know and just being friendly. Any questions we had about menu items were answered promptly. She had no problem with us separating the bill. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with steak fries because I have had this before and was happy. The other 3 all ordered the limited time blueberry steak salad. The wait time for the order was a little long but we had drinks and were in no hurry. My wife did ask Nikki about our order and she checked on it immediately. All our orders were brought out within minutes thanks to Nikki. As always Nikki asked us if we needed anything else. My sister discovered that her salad had slivered almonds on it and she is very allergic to them. We flagged down Nikki who was very helpful in reordering her order minus the almonds. We discovered that the almonds were listed on the menu for the specialty salad but none of us noticed it. It was no problem for our waitress Nikki, she brought out another order for my sister within minutes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and drinks and our visit to the Winking Lizard in Peninsula. Although they were busy we were treated like family. We will definitely make this a regular stopping spot on our...

Finally got a chance to eat at a Winking Lizard Tavern. The atmosphere at the location I visited was very much the definition of a bar and tavern. The decor was fitting, and everything looked good and clean. It was decent. They have an incredible selection of craft beers, beverages and wine. I decided to try a Chicken Philly, and enjoyed a Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout while waiting for my food. I'm not sure if The Tavern knows, but the Samuel Smith oatmeal Stout is traditionally a cask condition beverage. Meaning that it's supposed to be served just under room temperature. It's a menial thing that some are not aware of. But what I'm getting at is my beer was very cold. I enjoyed it anyway. My sandwich and fries showed up, and I asked for some malt vinegar as I usually do, because I've always enjoyed malted vinegar on my fries. What I noticed was the sandwich was not actually a Philly sandwich at all. It was just a char-broiled chicken breast, with Swiss cheese, onions and mushrooms, on a less than 6 in section of garlic bread that was cut in half. I'm not saying it was a terrible sandwich, but every time I bit into it, I was expecting the flavors of an actual Philly sandwich, but was not getting that sensation at all. When I put the malted vinegar on the fries, they became very soggy because they were not exactly thoroughly cooked. Imagine eating a baked potato with salt, pepper and malt vinegar with a very slight crispiness to it. That's what was happening with the oddly cut steak fries. The meal was basic and mediocre at best. The server was amazing though. He checked on us often, and brought drinks in a timely manner. He was polite, courteous and was knowledgeable about what was available on the menu. I hope to try this place again, but I'm going to a different location to see if...

I really, really enjoyed this restaurant. They have a really cool beer menu, so if you enjoy beer, including special or limited runs, this place is definitely worth checking out. Their beer menu is well laid out and informative; it includes the type of brew, ex. IPA, Imperial Stout, Fruit Beer, Cider, etc., along with the alcohol volume percentage, (they have everything from 2.5% to 12.3%) and the size, in ounces, of the bottle or can. I tried two outstanding rotational brews-- the Brooklyn Brand Key Lime Bel Air Sour and the Southern Tier Strawberry Dream Milkshake IPA were both amazing❤💚❤! They also have an extensive whiskey selection, a barrel selection list full of special edition bourbon, along with signature cocktails. The food here is also impressive. Even though I'm not vegetarian, their vegetable wrap sounded so incredible I had to try it, and I was not disappointed. It was full of beautiful, fresh veggies, and was something I would happily order again and again. My friend highly enjoyed the Beer Battered Hadduck sandwich-- the fish was massive! The staff were all upbeat and helpful, and our waitress was energetic, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. I was relieved to find that this place, even though they have a mask requirement, does respect exemptions. If you can't wear a mask due to a medical condition, they are respectful, act in accordance with the ADA, and don't require any ridiculous documentation or ask follow-up questions. This is very important to me, as some establishments in the Akron area do openly discriminate against those who aren't willing to risk their own health by wearing a mask just to go along with their policy. The Winking Lizard Tavern is a well run establishment I'm happy to...

Omg best wings ever. I just returned to Akron After after fifteen years away and this was one of the top spots on a short list of places to go and boy am I glad I went! Delicious as ever, and well priced. Bone in wings or bust mmmMm good! Ugh I gained a few pounds but worth it! I'll be back. ----- Updated August 6th Changed from my original five star review to one. Can't believe what we just experienced... I'm at a loss for words. I had a super rude blond manager, arrogantly confront me over our tiny pup service dog, who is a trained service pet. NOT an emotional support animal. I'm an autist. The dog stays in a bag and they tried to give us a hard time that we were trying to "hide the dog" and then said they were trying to be proactive about the dog. I have never experienced someone more rude over a service animal in my entire life. It was publicly embarrassing and really most of all for her. Here's a novel policy, welcome people with their service animals instead of discriminating against man's best friend and me. Our family have been eating here for as long as I can remember and it's frustrating and disappointing to be subjected to second class citizen treatment as an autist having to explain their existence in a public forum & setting.
