Every single person that needs their services is likely already in a bad mood. This was certainly the case both times I've used uBreak iFix. The first was my wife's Pixel 5a and all the headache from that was Google's fault.
Most recently I took my Nintendo Switch in for a diagnostic and repair. You see, I was a dummy and left it on the roof of my car and drove away. I found it later in the middle of Berryhill. It has very clearly been run over.
I'm pretty handy with electronics. I've fixed multiple retro consoles with my iFixIt tool kit. But this is a tightly compact handheld and I was not comfortable with the idea that I could somehow make it worse.
They replaced the heat shield and it turned right on. Cost me about $25. There is a hairline crack in the screen they suggested I let them repair through a screen replacement, but after looking at it I decided I could live with it. I did, however, ask how difficult the screen replacement would be, in case I decided to take that project on myself, and he walked me through the process.
When I got it home it was throwing me an error code that, when I looked it up, suggested a short in the speakers. Seeing as they showed me how to replace the screen, I felt confident enough to open her up and check, and sure enough, one of the speaker wires was pinched in my mangled up plastic housing. To be fair, they wouldn't have known unless the Switch showed them that error while they had it and it clearly didn't. I still gave them 5 stars anyway because it was because of their assistance that I was even able to fix the issue after my diagnosis.

Read moreBrought in a family member’s phone about a charging issue. They had dropped the phone and afterwards it either barely charged or wouldn’t charge at all. I wasn’t sure if the problem was that the charge port contacts were dirty or if the entire port needed to be replaced or if it was a battery problem or something else entirely. Took the phone in after a stressful day of work and insurance’s only advice being: “We can’t do anything, go see about a third party repair shop”. This place was conveniently nearby my workplace so I decided to try it. Went in, handed the phone over to a guy who looked at me like I had just ruined his day by walking in, I explained what happened, he sat the phone down and quoted me a repair price that cost more than I paid for the actual phone in full. He added on: “If that’s what’s wrong with it” as if he knew it wasn’t the problem and expected me to waste my money anyway by paying for the repair. I gritted my teeth, said I’d ask the family member if they wanted to go through with it for that price, took the phone back and walked out. I eventually decided to try the repair myself at home, that I’d take my business back to Express Mobile Tech if I couldn’t or just buy the phone again as it would be cheaper. Thankfully the home repair was easy, some debris to clean up and turns out the port was just loose, still fully functional. No more charging issues. But up to that point my experience was trash and I dont recomend them. I originally had the screen broken on my ipad. It worked fine but the screen was shattered to where glass would get in my finger. Dropped the ipad off. Was told a week. Didnt hear from them. Called and checked on it. Took 3 more days afterwards. I picked up the ipad. Screen fixed. Took it to my room and nothing else worked. Wouldnt charge. Screen moved on its own. Home button didnt work. So i returned the ipad. And explained everything and took it back for warranty work. Granted there was a lock screen but i woukdve given them the code for them to check if it worked or they couldve had me unlock it upon payment. So after i returned for the second time it was the same thing week later no call i called them for them to tell me the ipad couldnt be fixed and they would replace it. I accept and another week goes by and still no call. I call them. I was forwarded to the manager and the process began to get me another ipad. Which took about 2 weeks. But the lack of courtesy to call me and let me know the status was my issue really among them actually breaking my original ipad.
