The first Amazing saving grace of this store is... the lady that makes the FRIED CHICKEN!!! Each week I include a Kroger fried chicken dinner in our menu. Now, the chicken isn't as good as KFC's special recipe... but who can afford KFC's prices??!? No, the lovely lady who fries up Kroger's chicken is a master at her craft... crunchy coating with a tender, juicy interior!!
Second saving grace... in the aftermath of Covid - when stores like Walmart are utterly derogating their pickup customers - this Kroger location is treating their pickup customers with Respect. I will occasionally attempt to shop inside this store, but since Kroger Corporate had them play "Hide&Seek" with all their center aisles (thinking if they move EVERYTHING around, gullible shoppers will go to the exertion and time to FIND their regularly-shopped items) customers like me (disabled, older with expendable assets) probably went across the street to shop at the nicer Hy-vee. However, the pickup option is this Kroger's Saving Grace. I can still go to the Kroger Website (NOT the Kroger app... ALSO completely destroyed by Corporate Sapheads) and find my favorites, along with some weekly bargains. Then the lovely pickup department finds my car (30 minutes sooner than they do at Walmart) treats me Respectfully, and loads up my car. The amazing young man who helped me yesterday was an example. Absolutely freezing temps, brutal windgusts, and this young man is out there loading up cars in a wonderfully organized manner. Courteously, and yes cheerfully!!! Amazing! I'm glad that young man, and the older lady who creates perfect fried chicken... understand that just ONE grocery store employee can make a big difference in the life of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot impressed with this store. I worked at two Kroger stores in Georgia. So I do know their policies. If you buy something and it rings up wrong, the item is supposed to be free. Iāve had this happen 3 or 4 times between two stores. This one and the one on Sterling. The store on Sterling, I had a bad experience with as well. The cashier was rude and the lady working the service desk was as well. But the Assistant Store Manager DID know the policy and corrected the two employees.i left feeling a little better about the Manager and how he corrected them. Today, this store, on West Lake Ave, the same. Made me feel like a fool around the other customers. I explained the policy and asked that if she didnāt know it to call her Manager. She was going to ignore that at first by just ringing up the price it was supposed to be. I then again asked her to call the Manager. And he didnāt even know Krogerās Scan Right Policy! But what he says to her is to go ahead and give it to him. I could tell by the way she answered him on the phone. I had hoped that the policy would have been corrected so that she would know. And my feeling as a fool in front of everyone would honestly be met with some satisfaction. But no, her words were, āItās just Change.ā Well, lol! It was more than just some change. It was about $5. Add that to the last three times and that comes to $30 total. Hey, if I know a store policy and Iām gonna get the item free, then Iām gonna say something. So nothing was corrected, I walked out with the feeling that, I, to them, was just another dumb...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will not shop here again. I have shopped here for over 10 years. In the last 3 years, this store has gone downhill. I no longer recognize any of the staff and they've cut back on the staff that is still there so lines are very long. Worse yet, I'm constantly being overcharged(!) on items that have clearly marked signs over them. Instead of refunding you the price at the register as they used to do, staff now tells us to go to the money/customer service window. Today, I was overcharged $2 on blueberries. After being waved over to the money/customer service window, I waited behind 6 other people who were doing complicated financial transactions. The lady behind me had been overcharged for grapes which had a huge sign saying, $1.99 per pound with all grape colors listed. Still, she was charged the regular price and was now in line behind me to try and get the price corrected.
At night, they started putting security staff with bulletproof vests outside and inside the store. Today, I saw a security officer inside the store and it was 10am in the morning.
I will never, ever shop here again. If I feel I have to get something at Kroger, I will go to the store on the North end on Knoxville Avenue OR the Hy-Vee just across the street on Lake Street.
Kroger's, what...
