So pleased that officials worked to save the old train station and repurpose it into an art center. The only thing I see missing is something to pull it all together and get more people interested. The SMART train is awesome. Yet under-utilized. The bus transit mall next door is also underutilized. These three need to be refurbished better, and connected with one another is some meaningful way. For example, it’s a little bit of a trek to walk from the bus mall to the Visitors Center and adjacent art center. Why can’t people simply walk through the parking lot to the art center/visitors center from the bus mall? Why are the old buildings still not completely renovated? And why aren’t the public bathrooms better cleaned and cared for? I hope that city planners and officials keep in focus that spaces such as these must be maintained. And that the SMART train is a step forward into the future.

As of mid Feb 2020, the art center is hosting a fantastic Ceramics exhibit. Peter Voulkas, Robert Arneson, Richard Shaw to name few. The art center is in the original railroad station. Check for open times. Great stuff

I love this place. My daughter participates in camps and Mud Buddies (pottery night)...we are so glad that there is such a wonderful artistic place to come to in Petaluma. Candace, the Mud Mama at pottery nights (Wed. 6:30 PM to 9PM) is so knowledgeable and passionate. She is super friendly and offers tips and tricks to get your pieces to turn...
